Ok,so I will challenge you then......

So do you think that a garda breaking all the rules and using his or her garda car in a dangerous manner,to skip traffic ques and break red lights is fair and right then??

How about a drunk garda driving down a motorway at stupid speeds and slamming other innocent road users and injuring them??

Or killing an elderly lady who was standing at a bus stop, because the garda/garda car was driving too fast (when not on call),lost control of his car and ploughed into her at the bus stop.

Are you going to answer me on any of that??

Are those actions of gardai right and fair??

But hey, thats all perfectly ok though, isnt it???
Even if they are, they are better off on the move than sitting in traffic. It serves no purpose and eats up time that is being paid for.

What makes you believe I have an opinion on any of that? I didn't make a statement pertinent to that topic. A topic you seem eager to discuss.

Would you consider starting a thread in Emergency Services?

Back on topic, Im happy to see Garda cars undergo NCT. It will make the roads a lot safer for everybody.

They still have to abide by the exact same rules and road laws as everyone else though,(when not on call).

Thats the whole point.

Ah typical of you to ignore a post when you are challenged.

Yet you will happily jump on a band wagon and go off topic yourself to have a go at another poster though.

This isn't a Garda bashing thread, go elsewhere if you wish to do so.

You`d want to see some of the stuff they come into us for. Then again money is no object when its safety related--they just get them repaired regardless of cost.

Id say the majority of them would pass an Nct without any fails as mechanically most of them are in tip top condition.

I'd hope so. At the end of the day we all deserve a safe workplace. Be it a company car or Garda car its still a few tonne of metal being propelled at speed. Nobody should feel unsafe doing their job.

So just as a matter of interest. Are the guards mondeos all petrol. I've seen 1 or 2 diesel unmarked ones but to be getting 300k (miles I assume) is quiet impressive considering they drive the crap out of them. The nature of their job. Anyone more detail on their spec?
