    Howdy.

As anyone who peruses my posts will know, I am keen on telling others about a local business when I have been well looked after.

I just got an exhaust supplied and fitted for under a 100 today by Tullamore exhaust centre on Offaly St in Tullamore. I absolutely recommend you try this man. he's genuine, on the ball and friendly. That's what you want when you're getting your car looked after.

I actually had taken time off work and gone to Brady's in Portlaoise who were great in solving a leaking tyre problem (gents for a fiver!) but then messed me around unfortunately by either failing to check that their supplier had the exhaust in stock or failing to ring me to let me know they couldn't help me out as planned. As it turns out, I was running late and rang ahead and they still let me make my way over. But alas no exhaust. I am assured by a number of people that this is totally out of character for them; but nonetheless it seriously inconvenienced me. I had to drive a car with no backbox / muffler for effectively a week until I was off again. I was poisoned with fumes, which is not good at all. I also had an oil leak after paying for a full service and some other work from my usual mechanic in Carbury. NOT IMPRESSED> Ruined extended family's cobble-lock and MAY have been the reason that, 3 weeks after my NCT pass, the exhaust effectively blew off my car. I suspect an over-fill of oil causing oil into the exhaust which caused the exhaust damage. I can't say for sure until I research further. But the leak was from a filter not tightened up. To say that is amateur is putting it mildly. A drunk amoeba could change oil and filters.
What I can say is that Tullamore Exhaust Centre, a one man show, were the cheapest, the most switched on and rang me back with a price as he promised he would do. I like that.

    To compare prices: -
Bradys were going to be 120 supplied and fitted. They were also going to have to wait 10 days as clearly their distributor hadn't got it......?? Non-runner.
    Downeys offered me 170 + vat !
Keenan bauer in Mullingar, a Citroen dealer, offered me 240+Vat !!!
Advance Pitstop in Athlone were 120 supplied and fitted. And they were very helpful and efficient.

Everyone has bad days and most of those suppliers have had great moments too.
All I'm saying is that you should give this man a go. 05793-51876. He's courteous, good value and just out to make a living, not take on the world. In the time he fitted my exhaust (and solved the oil filter leak that my mechanic had caused), I had shopped in Lidl and enjoyed the fine weather in in Tullamore Town Park.
There's too much recession out there for people to be making careless mistakes that cost others; both in terms of precious time and precious money. For some reason, the car trade (and so many tradesmen) are specialists at complaining about the lack of work; yet not being on the ball when money comes in the door. I recognise good value when I see it.

Totally agree with you. Excellent work at fair price. I have been going there for 4/5 years now.
