A friend has no keys to remove the factory roofbars from his Opel. Can this be got around easily?

Do you mean like an actual key for the lock barrels or a special tool the unbolt it from the roof or roof rails?

If you look closely there is a 3 or 4 digit code on to the barrels.
The locksmith could cut a key of that code.
