Knowing next to nothing about Far Cry 2, I can guarantee you that this is not the case.

Yep, there is no autoaim feature in the pc version (at least it isn't turned on by default).

    That'd explain my 10% accuracy anyway:p

No bullet holes either unfortunately DarkJager, you'll have to get your sick thrills elsewhere

Been playing it for the past two hours now on the PC and tbh I'm not impressed ! Yeah it looks good but the AI is absolutely awful ! They see you through hills and buildings, run around in circles when you shoot them from a distance and never seem to hit you ! And example of this was when I had to attack a group of people, ran into 8 of them and didn't take a hit from about 10 feet away, it was a joke ! Also, fired an RPG and the rocket dropped to the ground at my feet and spun in a circle until it blew up !! As soon as the first missions started I had every armed person shooting at me, regardless of where I was. Even though while in the training mode everyone loved me ?!

Whenever you approach someone they give you a mission straight away, no questions asked regardless of who it is, the mission is yours. They even start talking to you even when you're just outside the building or on the floor beneath. So far it just feels unfinished and I'm in no mad rush to get back to playing it..

I honestly think he's playing a different game. The ai isn't the most amazin I've ever seen, but it's not that bad. I've managed to sneak past most places easily enough, too.

Playing on PC for a few hours now and I'm enjoying it very much. First off the graphics are stunning. Wait till you see a rocket leave your RPG or missfire or the fire spreading. It's unbelievable. I only have an 8800 but I can run everything on very high without a drop in frame rate, it's silky smooth. And it told me my drivers were out of date but it looks amazing.

There are a few problems I've noticed so far. As everyone else is mentioning the AI isn't brilliant. I have driven within a foot of people and they fail to see me.Its only happened once or twice though. Also there seems to be a bit too much driving in it and driving long distances at that.

The game is optimized really well. Much better performance wise than Crysis or Stalker by a long shot.

Excellent. Now to get back to it.....:D

AI better or worse than Stalker? Also, what specs does it run well on?

The FC2 reviews on Amazon US are hilarious. Nobody talks about the game, all they do is whine about copy protection. What I want to know is:

    1) Is it better than FC1?
    2) Are there any show-stopper bugs?

If the answer to both of these is yes, I'll buy it. So far the honest reviews both here and on a few independent sites are almost totally positive, with the exception areas being AI and long drives.

I would say better tbh. Far better game than Stalker imo. I'm running it on q6600 2gb of ram and a 8800. Can't say for anything else.

So far yes but I'm still very early in the game.
And as of yet I haven't come across anything serious at all.

@ the_syco - Memory wise it doesn't use all that much up, always seems to be around 800MB whenever I checked, so 2GB ram should do it nicely.
GPU wise I'd say 6xxx series for low, 7xxx series for medium, 8xxx series for high to very high (have everything at very high on my 8800GTS), then 2xx series for ultra high.
It really is nothing like Crysis - a recently built pc will run it nicely with everything maxxed out.

    @ Confab
    1. Seems to be so far (imo)
Much greater amounts of freedom and no Trigen = winning formula.
    2. Nothing major so far... Had one scene where I wasn't allowed to leave a room until I spoke with my 2 buddies, but they didn't want to talk to me. A quicksave followed by a quickload sorted that out.

FC1 had all those mutant monster bugs jumping out behind every rock! ;):D Thank f*ck they're not in FC2, I'd wouldn't even consider buying it if they were.

Playing for a few hours, im enjoying it but i am seeing how some things might get annoying or repetitive.

Like the sometimes long travel times, i can see how they would get annoying.

Also, the respawning enemies at those roadblick places i can see how that is gonna be really annoying. Like you fight to get to a mission then fight at the mission then have to fight all the way back. Maybe a mod or patch to fix it will come out.

Just taking a breather from this now. About 2.5 hours in and I'm loving it. The first Farcry never kept my attention but I'm really enjoying this, however it's not without its flaws.

It looks stunning and runs smoothly but I've seen a few odd graphical glitches (bizarre texture in the water reflections) and some minor slow down (in the desert area). The AI isn't too shabby but it had a few dodgy moments similar to those mentioned above. Finally the respawning enemies are getting tiresome. I cleared out a guard post drove around a corner then realised I needed to get more ammo, went back to the guard post and it was occupied again all in under two minutes. I've no problem with them being reoccupied, given there are guys patrolling in cars and the enemies would spot an empty post and want to refill it but I think the repawn length could be streched a good bit.

On a better note, I'm loving all the little things, for example I fired a flare into an ammo stockpile and in the ensuing fire the ammo proceeded to start going off with bullets flying in random directions. I'm also enjoying the health stablizing involving pulling bullets out of various parts of your body with a pliers....

What difficulty are you playing at? I started again on normal as I was having my ass handed to me on hard, and as I said, I haven't had too many problems. If I charge straight into an area that's occupied, then all the enemies know where I am, but I have been able to sneak around unnoticed.

As for people giving you missions when you're near them or even when you're not, that sounds like some sort of glitch in your copy, or something. And if you don't want a mission you can just go off an pick another one. I think after you pick another mission, you can still go back and pick up the first one again at a later time.

I'm sure there'll be mods for that. What I've found myself doing is going cross country and I miss the road blocks. It makes me feel like I'm actually smart because I spend time trying to find a clear route. :D

I'm loving all the little things in the game. I'm not mad about the snapping of bones back into place, but I'm a bit squeemish like that. :o

I got to team up with my first buddy last night and it was fantastic. I was running down to a meeting point when I heard gunfire. I ran on to find my buddy was surrounded and was hiding out in a shack. As I got closer, there was an explosion and fire started spreading everywhere. I killed all the bad guys and found my buddy on the ground rolling around in agony after beign caught in the explosion. And I was given the opportunity to heal him or shoot him. I wish I had saved before hand, because I really wanted to see what would happen if I had shot him.

And I also like when you get killed, your buddy arrives and as you fade in and out of consiousness, you see them pulling you up and fighting off all the attackers.

I finished off last night after getting myself a sniper rifle and I love the way that when you're looking down the sight and you fire, you actually have to stop looking down it before you can load the next bullet, as opposed to automatically reloading in other games.

I kind of like the weapon jamming mechanic, but it happens a little too often. It does add a whole new level of excitment to firefights, but if your weapons keep on jamming, it just adds frustration. Again, I'd say some mods will come along that'll sort this out.

The only real bad thing about the game that I can currently come up with is that I don't have a lot of time to play it. Add to that the other games coming out and that I'm planning to make at least 4 levels in Warhammer Online, it's going to be a very busy weekend.
