    Hi all,
    Played a Captain's Day a few weeks ago. The qualification round score was carried over to the Captain's Day itself. After 36 holes stroke, two lads tied for the lead on 135 Net. Player A shot 67 the first day and 68 the second day. Player B shot 68 the first day and 67 the second day. I know that regularly for stroke and stableford competitions in the club the winner is awarded on a better back nine score, but was just wondering what the correct ruling should be to determine the winner of said competition? Oh, player B was awarded 1st place due to shooting a 67 on the second day, although Player A shot a better back nine score on the second day. Find it really interesting!

    The correct ruling is is whatever the competition committee in your club decides it is, so you will need to ask them. It is up to that committee to set the rules of your club competitions.

    For 36 hole events, the breakdown usually begins with the 2nd 18, not the 2nd nine of the 2nd 18.

    Yeah, that's generally the case. At my club, there's 18 holes with a nine-hole play-off for the top 27 and 'back 18' (i.e. back nine of opening round and then the play-off) is used as a determinant.
