Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

UPC TP7200 and D-Link DIR868L help please

    Hi

    I have the above items and I cannot get the d-link router to work with the upc supplied unit.

    I rang them and the tech support girl said if the broadband was working fine then the wireless issues I was having with media streaming were up to me to solve!!!

    She could not provide any help or settings that might help.

    So I asked her what is the point of technical support :( Silence :rolleyes:

    After a great couple of years service with them, I am annoyed.

    Anyway

    Does anyone here have a solution (in ordinary language - not tech savvy :confused:) other than change to the UPC Cisco unit because she wouldn't do that either!

    What do you want to do with the D-Link?

    If you want to use that as your router then
    Turn off DHCP on the UPC router connect an ethernet cable from a lan port on the UPC to the wan port on the D-Link.
    Then configure the D-Link for your network.

    To access the UPC connect a computer/laptop to the router using a cable.
    from a command prompt type IPConfig
    Type the default gateway address into a browser. This will give you access to the admin page, you should find the user name/password on the router if you haven't changed it.

    Look up the router documentation for details of how to switch off DHCP.

    Then repeat the process this time connecting to the D-Link. Again look up the documentation to see how to configure it to do what you want it to do.

    Hi FSL

    Thanks for that info. However by pure chance i spotted a post that mentioned changing the router ip address as it cannot be the same as the modem :o so i did that and hey presto all good.
