Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    First off, taken from the old charter "for the purposes of this forum Macs are better, end of." NO PC vs Mac wars, or attempts to instigate.

    -The general boards.ie rules apply.

    -No spamming, no trolling, no flaming, no advertising, no muppetery in general. No posting or linking offensive or illegal material.

    -No discussion of purchasing illegal goods or products or of illegal purchasing of legitimate products, including evading tax/customs.

    -No Warez, Hackz, Appz or Crackz (advice/sourcing or discussion), software or operating system (hackintosh etc)

    -Personal abuse is not tolerated under any circumstances; if you have a point to make you can do so without resorting to petty insults. Insulting or provoking other users is not smart or witty, and will not be tolerated here.

    -Please use the "Report this post" feature (visible on each and every post under the user's profile) whenever you see something which breaches the charter or the general rules of boards.

    -A thread that has nothing to do with Mac Operating Systems or Apple related discussion shall be moved to a more appropriate forum.

    -Text Speak is also frowned upon, please try to use your entire keyboard when making a post.If you are unsure of anything PM a Mod,thats what we are here for.

    Hi folks,

    Just a quick note, as there have been a lot of threads on the topic of purchasing in the states lately, and with the Christmas shopping season here I reckon its gonna get worse. Plus, the news today of the guy getting stuck at customs for a couple of grand with those iPhones... we don't need boards.ie to be encouraging/teaching/advising such practices.

    The charter states that there should be no discussion of purchasing illegal goods on this forum OR discussion of purchasing legal goods in an 'illegal manner'.

    Next thread about buying the US should either contain discussion about queueing up in the red channel at customs or else nothing about getting the toys back in the first place.

    It is ok to:
    • Ask about price differences
    • Ask about Apple Care
    • Ask about voltage issues etc

    It is NOT ok to discuss any suggestions of how to evade customs UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, including:
    • Posting items/Fed Ex back and asking about getting caught by customs
    • Getting through airports with packages and documents
    • Packing items in order to bring them back, unless you are asking about protecting the product itself, etc etc


    Any post that includes anything on the second list, or anything like it, will result in a banning.
