Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Hi all!

    I submitted a short story to the Galway Review to meet the deadline for their 3rd printed magazine (http://thegalwayreview.com/2014/08/15/submission-guidelines/). It was added to their site a few hours later: http://thegalwayreview.com/2014/09/06/sean-garvey-the-mighty-macbride/.

    Would this story now be seen as published? Can I no longer submit this piece to other journals if the Galway Review decide not to print it in their magazine?

    The speed of the turnaround suggests that most content submitted is published on their website. I confirmed with them that the story will be considered for the printed magazine. I'm just wondering whether it being added to their site will prevent me submitting this story elsewhere in the future. It's not a big deal, just curious!

    Yes, that's published. Once something is out on the internet, available to the masses, it's published, even if you didn't get paid for it, or if it wasn't paid for.

    Really enjoyed that piece. The ending was perfect. I'd say the speed of the turnaround was a result of the high quality.     Thanks echo, glad you enjoyed it! Absolutely delighted to have the The Galway Review publish it, amazing to have your work promoted on sites like that. There seems to be a wealth of Irish sites promoting work like ours at the moment, long may it continue!
