Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Gas cooker off bottles

    The missus wants a gas cooker but we're not on mains gas. I know there's a lot of faffing with having to have two bottles etc which I can deal with but before I commit to the idea just wondered if there are any expensive modifications required to a cooker designed for mains gas to work off bottled gas?

    No expensive modifications
    You can order your cooker for bottled gas or just get a conversion kit.
    Cost of fitting cooker and conversion kit would be in the region of €100 depending on setup

    I am looking at second hand, any idea how I ascertain which need a change of thermostat and ffd?

    I would never have a secondhand gas cooker in my home, they're only as good as the person who fixed them, they often leak gas and there is a bigger risk of the odd KABANG with LPG.
