Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Sharpie mugs

    Has anyone tried the new sharpie mug craft. I have read loads of online blogs, some saying they work, some saying they don't. I decided to give it a whirl, I spent a couple of hours on the design and left the marker to set over night. It's in the oven as I type, I will be devastated if it doesn't work! It seems like such a simple but effect craft, we shall see.

    It seems to have worked well. the colour did fade a little but the design stayed in tact. I went over it again and baked it a second time last night to try to strengthen the colour but I haven't had a look at the results yet. I think a mat mug would work well too.I have read that the cheaper mugs have thinner glaze and that is important in allowing the design to fix. I'd definitely give it another go. I think it would be a good one to do with children as well. Its certainly a less time consuming craft than my other obsession - fimo.

    I tried them before and found the paint coming off, so I picked up some oil paint markers from in the states that are supposed to work a lot better. Check out this blog with tips on how to help them come out perfectly. However, I haven't tried them again since I got them.

    I've heard that it's the oil-based sharpies that you need to use.

    I don't think ordinary Sharpies are the best, but they would be ok for practicing.
