Hi all. My hair has started thinning on top and at 22, I'm not ready to embrace the shaved head look just yet.

I was at a dermatologist and he recommended that I try Rogaine for six months before anything stronger.

I wondered if anyone here has tried it and would know of any sites where it can be bought cheap? Or if maybe anyone has had success with other products?

    Hey

I've looked into this and heard it works on some people and doesnt on others
I'd be interested if anyone had any feedback also.

I've also read in the first few months it increases the thinning of hair before it works which is putting me off atm

I had to post a reply here. I've been using regaine for the last 2 months...had my hair cut a week ago by my sis, who is a professional hair dresser. She told me there was growth on both the crown and forehead and i actually see it on the forehead.

The thing is I'm using perfectil.. She reckons its the vitamin D. THe crown is changing, i'll admit. I'm waiting to see what happens after the next couple of months. I did experience shock loss, my hair was coming out in clumps. (Ya know when you run your finger tru your hair and you have like a worrying amount of strands). At this stage, I'm too young to have hair loss as it was. But, now....I don't have to worry about seeing all the rampant strands falling out. It's gone from being mad amounts to an acceptable level.

Anyone thats looking or tryin Regaine, ya need ta have patience. But ya do need to do something about the follicle challenge. Trust me, please? patience is all.....the shock hair loss does stop, it really does. I feel my head now and what i thought was just hair and from closer inspection is actually new hair.

    :)

Is the Rogaine foam for sale in boots ireland non perscription? I got it delivered cheaper but it got stopped at customs so might just pay over the odds locally. Is it sold based on the chemist's opinion?

It's available non-prescription in Boots here in Ireland. Costs about €85 for a 3 month supply (would normally last for more than 3 months though).

It's non-prescription, I don't get why they're seizing it? I have heard that they're stopping it outright. It's a ripoff locally, I buy online and it costs about 60E for six months worth - which actually lasts me much longer than that, as I only use it once a day, tons of evidence out there to support that once a day is sufficient.
