German jazz singer / pianist / composer Olivia Trummer was first introduced to Irish jazz audiences at 12 Points Festival in 2013.
Olivia Trummer is one of those rare artists who’s piano playing and vocals constantly compete to out-do each other. Olivia possesses a superb technique when sitting at the keyboard while at the same time commanding the most beautifully crystal clear voice comparable with any Jazz singer in the world today. She is also the composer and producer of four critically acclaimed albums and a fifth one in production, all this despite her tender age of 28.

Olivia Trummer is classically trained. Her performances will often reflect a rich mixture of classical music and Jazz, which is a sophisticated delight. Jazz arrangements of works by J.S.Bach or W.A.Mozart additionally widen the spectrum of her performances. She won a scholarship to the Manhattan School of Music in 2008 to pursue a Masters degree in Jazz piano and has divided her career between New York City and Berlin since.

Olivia has performed with many notable figures including Bobby McFerrin and has appeared in Carnegie Hall. She has won the German Federal Young Musician of the year award on no less then five occasions and is an internationally touring artist, who has performed her original music in many countries including Germany, USA, Austria, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic and Russia.

Olivia first appeared in Dublin at the 12 Points Festival held in Temple Bar during February 2013. Her performance was one of the highlights of the festival. In October 2013 Olivia embarked on an Irish Tour. The tour proved to be a critical and musical success. Audiences the length and breath of the country showered Olivia with the praise and adulation normally reserved for higher profile artists. It marked a milestone in Olivia Trummer’s career.

Olivia appears on Jazz Scene this Saturday 15th. November in advance of her trio appearance in JJ Smyths the following day ( Sunday 16th. ) from 5PM plus support to Charles Lloyd at National Concert Hall on Tues. 18th. November from 8PM ( nch.ie & jjsmyths.com for more ).
Chat, tracks form her latest album plus some jazz choices from Olivia herself.
Jazz Scene Saturdays 5 to 6PM 103.2 Dublin City FM with Sean Brophy presenting / producing.

Sorry to have to tell you that the original Jazz Scene presenter on 103.2 Dublin City FM had died. I send my deepest sympathy to all his family & friends.

Mick was very supportive of the local jazz world through his regular attendance at live jazz concerts over the years & will be sadly missed by many within that community.

Should anyone wish to share memories of Mick Murray please email jazzscene@dublincityfm.ie & I will share with listeners.
