I wasnt allowed post this in a utv thread so i thought id post it here. For anyone that plays games have a gander at this.

Pinging games2.iol.ie [193.120.201.112] with 32 bytes of data:

    Reply from 193.120.201.112: bytes=32 time=27ms TTL=248
    Reply from 193.120.201.112: bytes=32 time=25ms TTL=248
    Reply from 193.120.201.112: bytes=32 time=25ms TTL=248
    Reply from 193.120.201.112: bytes=32 time=25ms TTL=248

    And to a uk server:

Pinging server.four-kings.com [193.201.70.214] with 32 bytes of data:

    Reply from 193.201.70.214: bytes=32 time=37ms TTL=247
    Reply from 193.201.70.214: bytes=32 time=37ms TTL=247
    Reply from 193.201.70.214: bytes=32 time=37ms TTL=247
    Reply from 193.201.70.214: bytes=32 time=38ms TTL=247

Its perfect, its very stable, its the exact same as iol's subscription a/c which most quaker's use in ireland because it gives the lowest pings and most stability.

I get pings of between 90 and 120 ms to games2.iol.ie on Anytime :(

Single Line 64k ISDN (Trust PCI ISDN which according to WinXP is actually a TigerJet card)

    What am i doing wrong??

I have quite a long cable going from my ISDN connection point to my PC, but it is good quality LAN cable, and anyways I think long cable only harms Modem connections.

Anyone got any ideas? Is it possible to have a crap ISDN setup (it was installed years ago, one of the earliest when Eircom was still TE).

more or likely your rates are set wrong.

Well what is your performance like on other ISPs? If it's good on some other ISP then look at anytime as being the problem. If your performance in general is bad then it's possible it could be hardware/line related, but I'd imagine that provided you connect at 64k then there's not much you can have done. I don't know anything about that TA, so can't comment on it.

I just ordered Anytime over UTV XL today, so fingers crossed I'm as happy with it as most people seem to be.

ur ping problem is ur ISDN modem, its probably an eircom job... ie a totally **** modem for gaming, ull prob get 8k downloads but ****e pings

ull only ping low on a asus or an eicon diva isdn modem

u can get em both from www.komplett.ie, the asus is around 30 euro and diva is 60, both great isdn modems, both ping roughly the same, i have both and there is no major differance from the two!

bugler if u play games anytime is worth the extra 5 euros a month. whey better than utvipXL for games

There should be a wee configuration program which comes on your isdn driver disk. It lets you set the phone numbers for each channel / port / msn whatever it's called :) set that up and bob will be your uncle....
