Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Equipment needed to tune into Intelsat 707 & Thor 2/3 from County Limerick

    Hi Guys,

    I was wondering if anybody could tell me how to go about doing this? What equipment do I need and where do you think I could get it. What size dish do i need? Is it Digital or Analog? Is it possible to do on a sky digital setup? Would I need help to know when I'm pointing in the correct direction etc?

    Any help would be greatly appreciated, many thanks

    Welcome to boards.ie,,
    Im going to try to help you as easily as possible>

    No, a sky dish pointed at this satellite isnt going to be great reception.Also for Thor3 your gonna need a 1.5M dish especially in Limerick, Its weak here and Im in central europe.
    I tried in Dublin Thor3 on a 1m dish and it barely registered and our 1.5m still had some picture breakup.
    Intelsat 707 and Thor2 are ok on an 80cm dish btw.

    Any dvb digital receiver will work on this satellite but Id recommend a Nokia or dreambox etc...

    If you want Slovak tv its free on thor3, check out JOJ ,(cool or what?) but beyond BBC World on intelsat 707 there isnt much to watch. Telenor is unbelievably expensive so Id say your better off with sky if you intend to pay for films etc..
