So the satellite dish where im living finally rusted itself into no repair so im without any tv!

I am just wondering to get saorview + the free english channels, do you need a satellite dish or can you use one of those aerials you see sold in shops and stick it in an attic?

Also any recommendation on what box to get?

Typically, you need a UHF aerial for the Saorview channels and a dish for the UK free-to-air satellite channels, unless you happen to live in an area where you get overspill from the UK terrestrial Freeview service.

What is your recommended Saorview transmitter based on your location using the Saorview coverage checker - http://www.saorview.ie/get-saorview/make-the-switch/coverage-map/

What satellite receiver do you use now with that dish?
Do you have a Saorview compatible TV?

List of Saorview approved receivers here - http://www.saorview.ie/get-saorview/saorview-approved-product-listings/

As Apogee posted above the UK channels via an aerial will only be receivable if you live within range of a UK transmitter i.e. close to the border with NI or within range of a Welsh transmitter along the east coast otherwise a satellite dish is required.

Reception of Saorview with an attic aerial will depend on what the strength/quality of the signal is like where you locate the aerial, no one here that tell you what it's like in your attic, it'll be a matter of test and see. 2RN who operate the transmission network always recommend an external aerial to avoid local internal interference and any reduction in signal strength/quality.
