Leaving cert technology thematic brief 2015 ideas??

Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas on what to make for this years leaving cert brief. Thanks Gary

Compared to last year, there isn't a lot of room to wiggle when it comes to what to build, I'm absolutely stumped as to what to do, whereas I had an idea within 2 mins for last years

Though I didn't do leaving cert technology so I'm not very familiar with the syllabus, the brief seems incredibly open.

Thematic Brief:
Technology plays a significant role in the organisation, advertising and management of
sporting events across the world. Examples include electronic scoreboards, accurate
timing devices, entry and exit systems for spectators, animated advertising displays etc.
In this context, design and make a working model of a device to manage or enhance an
area or aspect of a sporting event of your choice.
Using modern materials and technologies, your model should incorporate an
electronic and/or mechanical system and should be well presented.

Not sure of the level of your capabilities, but there are literally thousands of things that could be done here. Come up with an idea and tie in a sporting connection after if it helps. Off the top of my head:

A training goal that records the number of points scored in different areas of the goal, this could have either mechanical or electrical counters.
An arena guidance system that guides people to their seats using lights in the ground.
An attachment for weights or cardio machines that can power devices.
A training ball cannon that aims at unprotected spaces around a goalie (could be done using lights and directional sensors).
A system to retrofit a snooker table with pot sensors for keeping score.
A training ball that will automatically roll back towards the user by using either a sound or light source.
A motorized camera that will follow the ball (if you're any good at computer programming).
A speed measuring device that will time a ball passing through two light gates.

Most of these are electronics based, but that's my background

Thats the Ordinary Level brief for 2014, huge difference between the levels

Here is this years HL;

With a focus on modern materials, processes and technologies, design and make a
model of a device or system that could benefit an individual refugee and/or an
aid organisation in a context of your choice.
Your solution should include electro-mechanical movement in operation and should
also be well presented.
