I was just wondering, where can you get a coin collection valued in Dublin?

    I have the following
    Irish:
    3x 1966 halfpenny
    1942 halfpenny
    5x 1968 penny
    1942 penny (chickless variety possibly?)
    1965 penny
    3x 1968 threepence
    1940 sixpence
    1955 sixpence
    1968 sixpence
    1969 sixpence
    2x 1954 shilling
    1955 shilling
    1962 shilling
    1964 shilling
    2x 1966 shilling
    2x 1968 shilling
    1951 florin
    2x 1954 florin
    1955 florin
    2x 1959 florin
    2x 1963 florin
    2x 1964 florin
    2x 1966 florin
    1968 florin
    1930 halfcrown

    1965 halfcrown
    1948 shilling
    2x 1953 shilling
    3x 1955 shilling
    1956 shilling
    2x 1962shilling
    1963 shilling
    1947 2shilling
    1949 2shilling
    1950 2shilling
    1954 2shilling
    1961 2shilling
    2x 1962 2shilling
    1965 2shilling
    1966 2shilling
    1912 penny
    2x 1913 penny
    1919 penny
    2x 1936 penny
    1937 penny
    2x 1938 penny
    1946 penny

There doesn't appear to be anything there of value in your Irish coins. Just a random collection of very common and generally unwanted dates. There isn't even any scrap silver value there, except for your 1930 half crown and even that is worth very little unless it's in mint or near mint condition.

There's a couple of coin dealers in the Grafton arcade, Dublin, but to be honest I think you will be very disappointed with what you'll be offered. It may not be worth your trip into town. You could always put them on Adverts.ie

I don't know much about UK coins but if they are from the same collection and same person who collected the Irish ones, then I wouldn't be too hopeful of there being anything there worth talking about either.

how do you grade coins, can you do it yourself or it needs to be checked by a professional?

Very long subject, too long to get into here, so I'll be brief. The term "mint" isn't one generally used amongst coin collectors. I've used it here as a layman's term to explain to you that unless your coin is practically new and unused, it's not worth much. Grading coins is something that requires a lot of experience in a particular area, for example someone who can accurately grade American coins may not necessarily be any good at grading Irish ones. A lot of sellers (especially on ebay) have a habit of overgrading their coins hoping to get higher prices. So at the end of the day it's up to the buyer to grade the coins for themselves and asses their real value.

So basically you can't trust anyone's grading of a coin, not even those American bull**** company's who slab them, as they often get it wrong especially for non American coins.
