The biggest threat to world peace in my opinion is any either North Korea at the moment or any nation that could severely disrupt our financial systems.

Ireland doesn't need any help doing that, did a great job of that at home themselves.

The post count shown is the total of posts made, not the sequential post number.

Israel and the USA in that order.

Have to agree, and as long as they support the US supports Israel, it will always be that way!

It depends on how you define a threat to world peace, but if it means a country that is now threatening to attack another one for no reason other than to maintain its own nuclear hegemony in its region of the world and which is actively seeking to eradicate another country and people from the face of the Earth through a policy of grabbing land and resources and ethnic cleansing, then that country is certainly the second coming of nazism - the vile, racist, supremacist terror entity that calls itself Israel.:eek::eek:

    We?

    Afghanistan is lost btw.

It was truly lost whenever resources were diverted to Iraq in a vain attempt to fulfil the fantasies of neocon chicken-hawks.

It was a half-arsed job from the start anyway.

We as in our countries, not we as in you and I.

I think your right, when the war to end all wars comes Uncle Sam will be at the forefront. We'll be letting them ship their nukes through Shannon of course, we wouldn't want to upset our great buddies.

Ya not like we need the Americans anyway, we should pair up with the Palestinians they are more our type of people.

Did anyone ever think that a war will not come, we are living in a remarkable period in history, there are very few wars in the world in comparison to the not so distant past.

Take Africa 20 years ago that continent was ablaze now there are 4 war situations and they are civil wars, since Ethiopia and Eritrea found peace there are no inter country wars in Africa. Its also interesting that Ethiopia is having an economic boom, they are now the bread basket of northern Africa They exported 1 billion in food last year.

The thing about war between to major superpowers these days is you can no longer fight them. There would be no winners. So Iran will explode an atomic bomb and that will be that, they will never deploy it.

So modern weaponry and the atomic bomb should be given a Nobel peace prize.

Thinking about this a bit more and I would say that any country that needs more food & fuel than it can provide locally or buy in from abroad will start the next war to steal those resources.

At the top of that list is the USA, China is a distant second as they are using the "East India Company" route to get resources.

Look at any conflict and they are sticking their meddling Imperial oar in, Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan and now Iran.

He has good reason to fear China as a leading threat to world peace.

The United States is, unfortunately, a waning superpower. I seriously hope this does not happen, but between their economic difficulties and their military engagements, they could go the way of the Soviet Union in '89.

China on the other hand is a rising superpower and they are exremely aggressive.

Since they became communist they annexed Tibet and continue to occupy East Turkistan. They also claim Taiwan (backed by occasional displays of military force) and virtually all of the South China Sea. Including to within a few kilometres of Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Sultanate of Brunei.

Hell, their claims stretch almost 2000 km away from their lands almost all the way to Singapore.

And that's just the start, their aggressive militarisation is causing an arms race among their neighbors.

Oh and let's not forget how China's support helps the worlds most horrifying despots like the "governments" (kleptocracies is more like it) of North Korea and Myanmar, both of which are virtual client states of China.

Plus there's that small issue of the PRC government being happy to stand by while Bashar Al-Assad slaughters the Syrian people by the thousands.

    =================

But don't let that stop you from going on about a miniscule Middle Eastern democracy (Israel) and a waning superpower (U.S.). I mean, we can't lose focus on the REAL threats now, can we?

If there is going to be an attack oh Iran we can expect Israel to strike first. It wouldn't surprise me if the first strike is a US warship in the Persian gulf with the blame put on Iran.

They are well capable of doing this through Mossad and have done similar down through history in an attempt to drag America into sorting out their problems.
