I need to tailor a debs dress I bought recently. I ordered it online and of course they made the hem far too long, it would be the perfect length if I was 6ft and in heels, which I'm not. :P
Fabric is chiffon with lining underneath if it matters.

Could anybody suggest places for hemming a dress, and how much I should expect this to cost?

There's a place in Wickham St across from the Tobacconist, not sure how much it was cost, but I wouldn't say it'd be very expensive.
I'm not sure but I think there's another place down around the corner where that deli/cafe place is, the top of Roaches St

I've used ZipYard on Thomas St. a few times now, but only for a couple of casual dresses. Couldn't fault their work though, they have a great set-up in there, very professional. I don't know for sure, but I'd be surprised if they couldn't fix you up. I'm sure it'd be no harm to have a look in there and if they can't help, they may point you in the direction of someone who can.

Another idea may be to visit one or two shops in town that sell formal dresses and ask if they have a particular dressmaker that they use/recommend for altering their garments as required. They might even have business cards/flyers around the till area if you have a look.

    Enjoy your debs!
