    Cheers for the updates Buggy.
Anyone new stand out for us as someone who might be playing come summer or were the conditions too bad?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,500 ✭✭✭ReacherCreature

I think this is Conor Kenny's third game in a row for us. He transferred down from Kildare and was said to have talent and potential. Any word on him?

ah imo you couldnt judge anyone today with the conditions.best for tipp were bren maher and mickey cahill had a great game in midfield to many players slipping and ball was very heavy.shane mcgrath didnt have the worst game last two games so at least hes an option for wing back.best for kerry was shane nolan

If Tipp want to learn anything from next Sunday's game against Kerry. They should make it deliberately difficult for themselves by deciding in the early stages of the game to only go for goals. Goals win matches and all last year Tipp's goal tally was low. A team needs to work on goals just like a Premier (no pun intended) League team on the training ground and after all Sundays game should not even come up to the same standard as a good training session. It would also be very useful to Brendan Cummins as he might have the opportunity to show the goalkeeper and the backs how to learn from their mistakes.

Very poor out of Tipperary only two goals against Kerry, does not give any hope for the rest of the year unless we start learning how to score a few goals (see my post above).

I get what you're saying but this time of year is about finding players and getting lads minutes on the pitch. There isn't going to be any great rythym to the team at the moment with all the chopping and changing.

I wouldn't be worried about anything like that yet.

Michael Cahill scored 1-2 at the weekend. For a player that played cornerback since he started his career and then to come up to midfield and score that is pretty cool and demonstrates some skill.

Cahill is a super player. Should be Tipp captain this year by right - him or Saint. Don't get me wrong, Brendan Maher isn't a bad choice but both Saint and Cahill were excellent last year and provided unbelievable leadership when a few of the usual suspects were guilty of shirking.

Wouldn't exactly hit the alarm buttons just yet now to be fair.

Waterford Crystal cup is a mere warm-up tournament in order to shake off the winter cobwebs. Matter of fact the league cant be read too much into either.
The same teams who played each other in the relegation final last year treated us to a 2 fantastic spectacles of hurling in the All Ireland final and replay September gone so we'd be foolish to over-analyse it. The main priorities of the league would be to remain in the division first and foremost and get as many games out of it as possible (certainly from a season ticket holder point of view :D)

To be honest id prefer a Tipp team that's able to score one more point then their opponents and grind out a win then the free flowing goal getters we were in 2011 that bombed in the final when teams copped on how to close down the space.

yeah way to early for that and seriously sunday was not a day for hurling.any team would have struggled to get goals sunday.ball couldnt be struck that far, pitch was very heavy and mucky underneath the players feet and players were constantly slipping all that wit a gale force rain beating against your face.on a dry day we would have scored more goals no doubt.yeah saint, mickey or brendan maher are the top 3 candidates but ive no hassle with bren maher being captain he plays every game like its an all ireland final and to comeback from that injury and terrible season he had is a credit to him worthy captain imo but cahill and saint would be fine choices also.mickey cahill had a great sunday seemed to really enjoy himself in there but if hes being considered as an option there he would need to be tested against much harder opponents.really like him and saint as corner backs two serious operators there with maybe o mahoney at full back has the makings of a serious full back line

Good big strong guy who is very effective in the air, his hurling does seem a little slow at times, not sure whether that is from hurling a much lower level or not but certainly oine of the more interesting additions.

Tipp traveled down to Kerry on Saturday and trained 3 times before the game, which itself was played in monsoon like conditions, the game and the scoreline are largely irrelevant, Shane McGraths continued resurgence in his new role and Michael Cahills performance been the obvious highlights.

lost 0-14 to 0-8. 6 points isnt that bad.

Check the tipp website. is very good now and should have teams, match reports etc up most weeks for intercounty matches

Subs, Kevin Fahey (Clonmel Comms) for Paul Shanahan, Michael Quinlivan 0-1 (Clonmel Comms) for Josh Keane, Dean McEnroe (JKBrackens) for Conor Kenneally , Colman Kennedy (Clonmel Comms) for Jamie Moloney. Decent team , but were missing Steven O`Brien , Liam McGrath and Colin O`Riordan , plus Kevin Fahey , Michael Quinlivan , Dean McEnroe and Colman Kennedy came on when we were well behind . David Power is giving Squad players a chance , come the Championship there will be a very strong team out , remember we didn`t go too well in the Leinster Minor League in 2011 and look at where we ended up !

    Jack Loughnane (Silvermines).

Second time in the Hastings Cup they have put Loughnane down as been a mines man when he is from Kildangan, not as if we get too many lads playing county like :D

West Championship draws tonight , will let you know when I hear them .

AFAIK the North hurling has been postponed a week, was due tonight aswell, but with teh county championship draws been cancelled last Monday due to the ongoing dispute over Aherlow/Lattin I assume the North will wait - 14 teams in the North Hurling so they will need to know exactly what dates the County Championship are on to fit in all the games.

Then again that would be the logical course of action so you can probably ignore it :D
