Christmas in a hotel

    Hi all,

    The boyfriend and I are considering heading to a hotel this Christmas, just the two of us for a few days. Arriving on 23rd and departing on 27th.

    Can anyone recommend any nice hotels? Neither of us drive so we will be relying on public transport to get there,, so unfortunately hotels in the countryside aren't an option as we don't want to pay a fortune in taxi's to/from it.

    We were looking at Dublin, but will check out any hotels. Budget is approx €300 for both of us, its not a lot but I have seen packages for under that amount so I'm sure it can be done.

    We aren't looking for five-start luxury pads or anything, just a nice hotel that's not in the countryside!

    All help and recommendations appreciated!

    Was going to suggest scanning the back pages of the Sunday papers for offers, but then spotted "not in the countryside"
    That actually narrows it down quite a bit, probably restricts you to Dublin, Cork or Galway.An Perhaps Belfast, as Christmas is on a Wednesday. Sundays in Belfast very huge, most things closed or restricted opening hours.

    Before you book anywhere, find out if there's any organised activities (e.g. parlour games, pub quiz etc.) after dinner on Christmas Day. If there is nothing planned, just remember that wherever you are, everywhere will be closed and you will have nothing to do so bear that in mind. It could be a very long and boring Christmas Day, especially if the weather is poor and you can't even go for a walk.

    We did Christmas dinner in a hotel once, most of the other people were very elderly and it wasn't a great experience, the staff served the dinner after which they went home and the place essentially shut down.
