That's unfair. Anyone who asks for the money back isn't necessarily any less grateful for what the team delivered than someone who chooses not to demand the money back.

It's the prinicple of the matter. People were generous in their donations without the county board having to act the ****.

Cormac I think you're jumping the gun a bit on this one. My reading of it is that it is the clubs who have been offered the refund, not individuals who bought tickets. The likely outcome is that the clubs will agree not to request the refund and the matter will be left at that.

Cop yourself on FFS. Putting people's name in the paper for claiming something they're entitled to?

I disagree, any true GAA man, any fíor gael of the association would happily handover 5 euro to the County Board under the circumstances. The County Board went the wrong way about collecting the 5 euro, of that there is little doubt, but to hell with the sunshine supporter who jumped on the bandwagon and would have the brass neck to look for that 5 euro back. Running an intercounty team these days isn't easy, development squads cost money, 5 euro towards this is pittance. I would love to hear if anyone had the neck to look for this back, I presume they'd be made a laughing stock of in Donegal GAA circles.

My apologies ceist beag, if this is the case then I doubt any Club will do so. A wonder GAA way out of a GAA problem

I'd imagine anyone who asks for it back would be under exceptional circumstances. What comes to mind is a family of 2 adults and 4 children = €30. Thats a lot of money for a family like that in an economy like this coming up to Christmas.

You want to name and shame them in a local newspaper?

Yet they could spunk €480 on 6 tickets just 2 short months ago? That some poor money management in an economy like this.

Twenty years since Donegal's last All Ireland final, I know a lot of people who took out loans and maxed the overdrafts. A lot of people would have just closed their eyes and bought tickets - do you blame them? What would you have done?

Again, I don't think anyone will claim it back, but what you're suggesting is complete bollocks.

Ah, this ol internet chestnut, well that must make it true then musn't it?

As for what I would have done, I'd have paid my money, thanked my lucky stars to get my hands on 6 tickets to the most sought after All Ireland Final in decades and cherished the memories that came with it. I'd have been grateful to a County Board who have set up systems that brought through such a generation of footballers, and even more grateful for a man like Jimmy McGuinness who coached them. I would have thought a fiver is a small price to pay for giving my 4 young un's memories to last a lifetime.

But thats just complete bollocks eh?

The part before where you want to name and shame people in a newspaper for something like this is complete bollocks yes.

Oh, and I know a group of people who took out loans to get them to the semi-final and final - cheers.

Of course you do, I mean how could I disprove it, and why would anyone lie on the internet, what would they have to gain? It's never happened, I'm sure of it.

Thank God then that its a little beyond the point then eh? I was kind of hoping you'd try and justify the public shaming instead of focusing on that?

You were the one that brought it up, surely that made it part of the point?

The naming and shaming is just a personal slant on what they should do to discourage such sleeveen behaviour from people.

Aye, that would be the same County Board who only appointed McGuinness as a last resort?
