    Ok I could go with a few options here;
    Option A- Oh that's terrible she should be allowed wear what she wants, it's the 21st century ffs.
    Option B-Each state is allowed to make there own law and rules and those that live there should respect and live by them or accept the consequences.

    BUT.....since I see a thread like this here nearly every week I'm going to go with option C - I really just couldn't care.

    If you live in a particular country you have to live by it's laws, yes in this day and age it may seem unpleasent that acts like this can still take place but bringing them to light over here never makes any difference and the only reason to bring it up is to shock people and get a reaction.

    At the same time you probably know very little else about their culture. Who are we to judge others? If you walk in another persons land you follow their rules...simple as that really.
    Their entire existences are dictated by misinterpreted rules laid down by a nonexistent deity. They are at approximately the same level of cultural sophistication that Europe was 1000 years ago.

    We like to think we're so much better but when I go outside wearing a dress I get funny looks and I'd say allot of people would like to beat me up.

    I'd love to see how the authorities would react if a big gigantic screen suddenly appeared and started showing some filthy hard core porn.

    Does anyone else not see the coincidence that all of these countries with their radical laws follow the same religion.. Odd that.

    Thats not in islam, its more a cultural branch out - if anything.

    Ehm
    according to the article I read ( I think it was the irish times ), the main reason she was picked on for it, is because she's a strong anti-government writer and they were trying to pick on any excuse to get at her. She's received a pardon from the president, has some kind of immunity because she's in the UN - but she waived it and quit her job so it'd go to trial, so this whole thing can be highlighted and hopefully overturned.

    Must have read something in the indo as well on it

    So it's a cultural branch out of the religion, what difference does it make?
    My point still stands.

    This reminds me of the abuse TV's and cross dressers get for wanting to wear what is "perceived" (and I use that term loosely!) to be normal. Surely there are other actual more important things in life then what someones wears? It saddens me :confused:
