Seriously, just use audiko.net. It's simple. Upload the file, edit it, download it. No converting or any of that.

Sounds like you have file extensions hidden.

In a windows folder go to tools, advanced and uncheck "hide file extensions for known file types" (or something like that - I'm on an iPad).

Then you should be able to see the full file name and file type which you can click on, press F2, and change as required.
