Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    At the ripe old age of 31 and having spent months as an out of work plumber im starting again as a first year mechanic on monday :-)

    Looking forward to doing something o have a genuine interest in this time round.

    At least by the age of 31 you will be familiar with the old glass hammers,skyhooks,etc., thus saving a lot of time!!
    I really wish you the best with this change in career, it takes moxy.
    If only at the age of 39 I had your balls ...

    Congrats its a tough job and we don't get much credit for how difficult the job is but its very rewarding at times when you get to the bottom of a difficult fault or re-building an engine and hearing it firing up for the 1st time, lots of little victory s make up for the hard slog . Once your serving your time in a decent garage with good guys around you you will learn every day there's always something new.

    Cheers for the encouragment folks , much appreciated. I'll try my best to update the thread with progress evey so often.

    It's in a main dealer of a popular boards German marque with large luggage space ;) A mate works there so I'm expecting him to look after me :D

    You should be laughing - there are a lot of pipes, hoses, tubes, expansion tanks, pumps, flanges, condensers, compressors, washers, o-rings, thermostats, ECUs - and cylinders, rings, heads, valves, manifolds etc.

    Just park the pipe wrench (except for nixers, of course). :)
