Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Would a Tablet be any use for college work?

    My sisters bday is coming up and she is in her final year of college. Seeing as she will be extensively using any hardware she has, is a tablet a viable option for her......or would she just be better off with a netbook?

    tablets are only really useful as a consumer of content i.e. web-browsing, apps etc. If she has to do any serious kind of document writing or note taking, then I'd steer clear of a tablet as the on-screen keyboards are not generally conducive to typing a lot.

    No really. Especially in final year.

    Presuming she has a lot of typing to do, then I'd probably steer clear of a netbook and get something with a full size keyboard being honest. It'd make life a lot easier if she ends up spending a lot of time infront of it.
