For €400, you haven't a hope in hell of getting a Gibson firebird brand new. If you don't mind second hand, check out http://www.chrisguitars.com/ or eBay.

Ah the excitement of getting a new guitar. I currently have an Ibanez RG320FM : (same colour)

And how I love it, but I might get another guitar for Christmas too, maybe a Strat or something. Sorry for giving no real input or help, but good luck getting your new axe!

This wolud be really good I'd imagine. Total price I would say

"The neck pick-up is a gibson p-90,the middle pick-up is a tom anderson custom, and the bridge pick-up is a duncan vintage 50's! The five-position switch gives you sounds from smooth jazz to chicken-pickin'Its like owning a tele, strat,sg les paul and es-335 all in one guitar! The vintage body looks so ''cool'' and the neck is total velvet!!"

sounds good but you would have to stretch to get it I'm afraid. €525 I calculated with $100 shipping included. I'd say it would sound really nice especially with those pickups. Its also great to see th regular single coil in the bridge. P90's are great also. You really could get great tele, strat and gibsonesque sounds with it. I'd imagine it would be fab.

A japanese Fender strat from the 80's in Buy & Sell. Avoid Epiphone like you'd avoid salty milk!

Yeah the CIJ fenders are really nice, better than Highway 1 in my opinion. You surely wouldnt go wrong with one. You could get one new of ishibashi also. You would get a lot more if you could spend about 200 extra though. This looks fantastic and I dont usually like signature guitars at all, I'm not really a beck fan either!

    from chrisguitars:

    Pics

"current model with smaller neck and Vintage Noiseless pickups, very minor wear to pickup writing but not a scratch anywhere and a beautiful 9.8 example"

I like the extra features like the contouring of the heel and the locking tuners, looks great and for €640!!! :)

By spending the extra 220-250 you move from okish guitars to GREAT guitars! But you have to go secondhand for that to happen. Always try to spend as much as possible, better in the long run.

But it is straying from the overall gibson theme a bit.

This is also a sig! looks great hough for around €655

Eh, that Wolfgang isn't a sig guitar...

    Nice though :D

    EVH no?

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,359 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

No. EVH's Wolfgang has a Floyd with a D-Tuna and one volume, no tone.

The Epiphones are a mixed bunch at best. Generally they have either **** tuners, horribly cut nuts (which makes their ability to stay in tune turn into runny poo) and gammy electronics & wiring or a mixture of the three. For the amount of money you're talking, 80's and Japanese made is the only way forward. Maybe check out a few Aria Pro II's also. Way better than the Epi's.

Ah but I dont get what the signature is doing on the back of the headstock then? Is it even his? I thought he sort of "endorsed" the whole range?

Balls. Aye, seems he endorses them. I could have sworn he only used the Floyd models considering how much he endorsed Floyd Rose in the 80's.

I think his contract with Peavey expires soon anyway, so he'll have a new sig model with whoever offers him the highest amount of $$$

Didn't he just do a run of 'limited edition' VH paint job Charvels?

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,359 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Yes he did. His contract has ended. No more Wolfgangs or 5150's ever!

Aye, he did some Charvels. $200 worth of guitar being sold for $4000. Bull**** tbh!

TBH, didn't like the Ernie Ball or his Peavey guitars. Those Kramers kicked big ass though (that was back when you was a nipper Paul ;) )

There most proably will be, just under a different name. Like the Musicman Axis sport and Axis super sport. He once was endorsed by them.

Try and put any distortion near that and it'll howl!

21 years ago :P Ah, his Ernie Balls are nice. Hmm, maybe they're what I'm thinking about.

Christ, I'd be wary of that first one tbh. No model number?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,848 ✭✭✭✭Doctor J

For €450 it could be a bargain, you can find out for the price of a phone call :D

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,359 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

    Phone...call?

I was only messing. It wouldn't feedback ALL that much anyway. Not NEARLY as much as the Epi Casino. It's not a true hollowbody in the literal sense of the word. I cant imagine it being a major problem unless we are talking metal or something, for which it would be unsuitable anyway. I presumed he is talking jazz, blues, pop, rock n' roll type sounds bye his first choice of guitars.

Sorry, my head is slow today.

TBH, Les Paul and Firebird say rock to me. Casino - Oasis....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 354 ✭✭HusseinSarhan

I agree but the Casino says Lennon to me and to a lesser extent yes britpop.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,359 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Yeah, I thought Lennon first too but you know these young folk... :p
