Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    The first one looks like a well worn Green Hairstreak butterfly.

    Single stripe on side of thorax makes this a Common Blue Damselfly, a female. They take a week or more to mature and only then will they seek water. Females tend only to visit water when laying.

    It's a Large Emerald moth.
    Thyme has already answered it as a Common Emerald which I agree with

    The shape and the pale border does not match Large Emerald.

    After many years of trying - I finally(by fluke) managed to get a few decent photos of a Kingfisher this morning on the Liffey( Lucan Demesne).
