Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Road to Hype - Irish edition ;)

    randomselect.ie presents the Irish leg of the Road to Hype series leading up to Hypespotting 4 in association with VersusScotland. The Games being played are:

    Ultra Streetfighter 4
    Tekken Tag Tournament 2
    Smash Bros WiiU

    Venue Entry €10
    Tournament Entry €5

    This year, Road To Hype tournaments will award seeding points to players who finish in the higher place positions, which will then be collated and used for the purposes of seeding in the main tournament draws at Hypespotting 4. The points will be awarded follows:

    1st – 45
    2nd – 20
    3rd – 12
    4th – 6
    5th – 3
    7th – 1

    In addition there is free tournament (not event) entry to the winner/s of the Road To Hype tournament/s in the title/s they won.

    Irish Passport Prizes (Incl our northern Ireland breathern)
    We will be using this as a fund raiser to send players to Scotland for Hypespotting 4. We are aiming to be able to send the winners (highest placed community member) of each of the 3 games that are being run ( USF4, TTT2 & Smash Bros WiiU) AND an additional person drawn randomly from a hat/bowl/darkpitofdespair. This is all dependant on numbers of attendance as always.

    First things first, make sure we have enough working setups for Tekken so that it doesn't run for 29 hours.

    Same for Smash, how many Wii U owners do we have?

    Updated ruleset for Smash.

    Ruleset for Smash. These are the ones from Hypespotting for RTH events:
    SSB – Wii U
    Best of 3
    Double Elimination

    Stage Settings
    Neutral stages: Battlefield, Final Destination, Smashville
    Counterpick: Delfino Plaza, Halberd, Lylat Cruise, Town & City
    Banned: Everything else
    Stage Picks
    1. Players play Rock Paper Scissors
    1.1 Loser strikes a neutral stage off
    1.2 Winner picks one of the two remaining stages for round 1
    2. When a round finishes, counterpicking occurs
    2.1 Winner from first round bans 2 stages (can be any within neutral and/or counterpick) from getting picked next round
    2.2 Loser picks stage from either neutral or counterpick
    2.2.1 If Loser picks Final Destination they can choose whatever Omega Formed stage they want
    2.2.2 If Final Destination is already banned from counterpick by winner then Loser CANNOT pick an Omega Formed stage.
    2.3 Winner chooses character
    2.4 Loser chooses character
    Repeat step 2 if needed until there is a winner

    ‘Dave’s Rule’ - you cannot chose a stage you have already won on
    Timeouts – if the timer runs down to zero the player with the highest number of stocks wins. If stocks are tied, the player with the lowest % wins.
    Suicide kill rules

    Some suicide kills result in a sudden death, however this is rare and only on certain stages. If this occurs please refer here to see who the winner should have been for the respective suicide character:
    Kirby, Dedede, Boswer: lose
    Ganon: Win

    Can we try have player cams for the event?

    Noticed watching older Baa fights events that we are missing a decent view of the players/venue.

    Really show people watching online the size these events can be.

    Any word on number of Tekken/Smash setups yet?

    I should be able to make this, but there's a lot going on at the moment which could easily prevent me from making it.

    Its in hand. Plenty of word as you put it with the people involved.

    @Nutrient - If its possible, we can but camera's and USB bus speeds can affect what can be used. I encourage people to being cameras and take pictures. That used to happen, not so much anymore

    Not stupid at all. That 'clause' is there cause we want to use this event to fund sending people to Hypespotting representing the IFGC. It was inserted to cater for players coming over for the event only, ie. if Problem X came over from England for the seed points, then we would not fund his flights & accommodation. - Hence the Passport rule. In your case you are here, you attend our events and support our endeavours so it would not apply to you although the prize is a return flight from Dublin - not Madrid ;)
