    Children break in to airport
    From The Irish Independent
    Sunday, 10th June, 2007

GARDAI in Co Clare are investigating how two young children managed to breach security at Shannon Airport and wander close to a busy airline taxiway before being observed and picked up by security personnel. The incident occurred at 8.30pm on Friday when two boys, aged 5 and 11, were spotted only yards from the airport's main runway. They apparently scaled a fence so that they could get a closer look at a search and rescue helicopter based at the airport.

A spokesperson for Shannon Airport confirmed that the incident occurred but that there was no danger to the children as no planes were moving in that part of the airfield. "They were picked up by the airport police and handed over to gardai who are investigating the matter."
