Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    ComReg issues new leased line decree

    Telecoms regulator ComReg has issued a directive to Eircom requiring it to lower prices and improve services for businesses switching leased line providers.

    ComReg said that until this directive was introduced, delivery times, consequent service outages and cost of connection were problems for businesses changing suppliers. The regulator said that both small and large businesses will benefit from the ability to change the supplier of their leased lines without any service interruption as operators will be able to re-use existing leased lines.

    Not only is this process more customer friendly, but it is also more efficient and can be done at a lower cost than the existing process, the agency said. ComReg speculated that the decision should stimulate greater competition in the leased line market.
