Doherty wins the first frame, goes in off form the break in the second.

Gentleman Joe really putting it up to Ronnie here. 7-4 now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,513 ✭✭✭seanhynes

7-4 to joe perry hes playing very well after ronnie took the opener of the session, great cushion now, ronnie needs the next or id say he'll meltdown

Have heard people talking about more receptive pockets for years but have never noticed it so blatantly as these worlds. Ronnie shaking his head when one dropped in his opening match, Steve Davis surprisingly referring to the size of the pockets in commentary, Joe Perry nearly half way back in his seat yesterday as a ball somehow dropped in off the angle. Along the top rails balls can brush the cushion six inches from the pocket and still fall in....can seem a little bit farcical at times.

And yet, without figures to hand, it would seem the number of centuries is down on previous years so go figure! Does that suggest the overall standard is even lower than we thought...one possible conclusion at least

the record for century breaks in a season(individual) has been broken every year for the past 4 years

prior to that the record stood for 15 years

I don't think he meltsdown quite so easily these days

Looks like he will get it but not the usual freeflowing snooker from Ronnie

true i know his temperment has been outstanding the last year or two,but he used to get bored if he wasnt the frontrunner and give up quite easily, hope im wrong and he wins it out wont be the same if hes not involved in the business end

Ken 2-1 down and mc manus made a 107 break in the 3rd frame. Hope Ken gets through. Would be great. Would prefer to see him play carter than Selby I think. Just checking on my phone coz I'm at work. Cant wait to go home and watch the snooker for the evening.

Feels like less centuries this year too.

hes been on his seat too much and making too many fouls, mcmanus confidence is high after that 107 break, think he may pull away unless Ken makes a half century or so hes not being able to get his breaks going

Am only referring to the current tournament. Think there were 19 centuries in total in the first round matches which would seem low to me, but am open to correction on that

Ken Doherty hasn't gotten into it at all yet. Too many unforced errors.

ok I don't know too much anyway

just watching now and the width of the pockets seems to be massive

I know that's not the only factor involved

this'll be a test for Ronnie

still fancy him to do it

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 287 ✭✭cack_handed

May still do it tom but doesn't look as if Perry is going to hand it to him, been really solid so far though probably should be another frame ahead

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,890 ✭✭✭tomdempsey200

    hmm

Will be a struggle here if this goes to 10-6

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,408 ✭✭✭✭Witcher

Perry always looks like he could nut someone at any moment:pac:

Never seen Perry play so well.

If he gets the next id fancy him to win the match out.

Huge frame for Ronnie. 9-7 is very doable. 10-6 is a big ask even for the great man.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,890 ✭✭✭tomdempsey200

Ronnie to close with big break I reckon

Awful. That shot to put Perry back in was worse.

  • Registered Users Posts: 41 Forthright

Doherty 4-1 down. If he can get out of there just 5-3 down, he will be delighted.

Its a comedy of errors in this final frame of Perry/O'Sullivan

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,513 ✭✭✭seanhynes

cant get my head around that pink from Perry, he bottled that

Doherty has McManus in a very nasty snooker thanks to a fluked red.

Hendry is so depressing to listen to.
