Best Portable laptop with DVD drive?

I need to upgrade my laptop and I'd like one with a DVD/CD drive. Unfortunately 90% of the time Ultraportable means no DVD drive. I have come across a few options that thankfully do come with an optical drive.

I don't want wait too long before getting a laptop as I want to stick to Windows 7 for now. I also still want good battery life and lightweight, i.e. at least 6hrs and <2kg. :o I know, lots to ask.

I am also a sucker for looks and brand-name, so I'd rather stick to the well-known brand names with a good reputation for customer support and low failure rates. I am willing to pay the extra for this, and don't really have a budget limit (though realistically don't feel like dropping 2.5k on a PC! even on the sleek Blu-ray Vaios I've seen.)

I should mention that I'd like > 128GB of memory, 500-750GB is plenty I think, though would settle for 256GB if it's an SSD. I've noticed a few manufacturers doing a mix of SSD/HDD for performance reasons, which is also cool with me. I'd like to be able to upgrade to a min of 8GB of RAM, though don't mind buying with just 4GB. I don't care too much about an amazing graphics cards, but would like it to handle some light gaming on lowish res settings. I've looked at the currently available processors and something with Core i5 would suit I think, as core i7 is probably overkill for what I need.

    In addition, some desirable features:
    • SD/MMC card slot
    • bluetooth
    • >=1.3MP webcam would be preferable
    • would rather 3 than 2 USB ports, at least 1 should be 3.0 (futureproofing really)
    • VGA and HDMI output would be handy
    • higher resolution screen and output is more desirable (naturally), though wouldn't put me off buying if it met most other criteria
    • wifi -goes without saying
    • LAN port -preferably without requiring dongles

I've narrowed down a few models:
    • one of the Samsung Series 5 14” ultrabooks - NP530U4C
    • Lenovo's 14" Ideapad U410
    • Fujitsu LIFEBOOK S761 - seen very few local reviews on this
    • Toshiba Portégé R930, 830 or 835 (too many variants)
    • Acer Aspire Timeline Ultra M5 481TG-6814 - though not seen any for sale this side of the atlantic.

Are there any opinions, suggestions or ideas on best choice? Or would anyone have an alternative suggestion?

    Thanks a mil!

    PC Specialist's 14" UltraNote maybe?

The following configuration costs £557/€689 (plus delivery):

    i8dh8.jpg

DVD writer, 2 MP webcam, HDMI, USB 3.0, the works. Comes with OS Installation DVD and 3 yrs warranty.

Or get the 240 GB Intel SSD which is on special offer. Alternatively, order with the cheapest HDD and get a 256 GB Samsung 830 Series SSD (160 yoyos at computeruniverse.net) and upgrade yourself. Or go with a hybrid solution: mSATA SSD cache/platter HDD (not my preference). Happy configuring. ;)

I checked it out but it already starts at 2.15kg weight.
Just got the Samsung Series 5 14". So far so good. Screen rightly so isn't the best at different angles but it handles well and I got all I needed in it.
