Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Baptismal Certificate

    Hi,
    I just wanted to ask the advice of people in her as regards getting married and requiring the baptismal certificate. I know it is necessary, but are there some cases where they make exceptions - for example my parents are old and their memory is not what it used to be and cannot find my original baptismal certifiacte and can only give me a general area in Dublin i was baptised in, I'm not sure even this is correct. The problem is I have tried Churches in these areas and they have no record of my baptism. However I have made my communion and confirmation so i was definitely baptised. The confirmation cert contains no details of the baptism where it took place and the primary school i went too although Catholic, did not require the baptismal cert as prroof of my religion. I am lead to believe that haveing a confirmation cert is not enough so my question is what can i do?

    Any advice and help greatly appreciated

    The church itself should have a record. Consult with the priest and see what he can do if you know the church where you were baptised in.

    I'd contact the Diocese. They should have a record of where the baptism took place. Also, if you made you communion the school and associated church will have had a copy of it and strictly should still have it.
