Aldi's special buys this week are pet related- some nice bits and pieces :) They're in store from tomorrow.

So Bailey has had 3 laser sessions this week... the vet was examining him yesterday and poking and prodding where he's sore and was pushing in really hard and he didn't react at all! He has 2 more sessions and then he'll be assessed again so fingers crossed he keeps improving :)

I just used an online calculator to see how big Diefer is going to be as an adult, based on his current age and weight - it said 42kg. I'm in shock, and hoping it has absolutely no basis in fact.

Oh no, I hope everything goes ok and that Junior is home soon.

Poor Junior passed away this morning :(

She would have been 6 in April.

She was born here and was the last of the five babies Joon had. Four of them passed away just over 2 years ago :( Poor Joon's on her own now :(

    Heartbroken.

Ah I'm so sorry Jellybear. She was gorgeous. Her ears look like they were made of black velvet.

Oh no, it's started, crazy snow dog, he's leaping up and running to the door every time I move.

So sad Jellybear, such a lovely looking bunny.

My two went mad rolling in it!:p .. Bailey is meant to have hydro tomorrow morning  ... dub -> Kildare with possibly icy conditions

I hope he won't be as bad as he's been in the past, he's almost 10 now, and slowed down a bit after the cruciate surgery last year.

Good luck with that drive, I hope its not to early in morning, I've 20 miles of country roads to get to work for 8.45!

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,020 ✭✭✭✭tk123

I normally leave at 8:00 :( the roads there are bad enough on a good day lol!

Oh is it somebody who ‘looks at them from a Vet point of view’ had to bite my tongue off when somebody at the vets was steered away from a brilliant behaviourist to somebody else who’s outdated..

Why is it always the same on bank holidays etc that our poor animals get sick :(

Our husky is very unwell, not eating and that is just not like her. Had an awful scare a couple of years ago when she wouldn't eat and it turned out to be peritonitis :(

She's being brought to the vet now. Very worried about my poor parents driving though as the roads they will be travelling are quite rural :(

Please send positive thoughts for Ella. She's 10 next week and she's just such a wonderful dog. Can't bare to think of her being unwell :(:(

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,020 ✭✭✭✭tk123

Oh no poor Ella! Hope she's ok!

We had a snowy walk this morning - Lucy's first time in it :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,223 ✭✭✭jellybear

Phew - Ella should be grand! Got antibiotics for a week and no knots or lumps etc in her stomach so all good! It's been such an awful week after loosing poor Junior that we just couldn't face anymore bad news. They're home safe and sound now so plenty of cuddles for Ella, even though she hates them!!

No work today took much snow, 20 mile drive not happening in that, so had 3 walks in snow, Oliver has been going out and rolling in it!

Anyone got any tips on how to find a good owner for a young cat. I have 2, one is chill the other needs a lot of attention and a lot of play that I can't provide at the minute. Got her to play with my other kitten but she only wants to play with me and pretty much ignores him. Had them both about 4 months now but she really needs someone with time to pay to her she's a little too needy for me. She is vaccinated and neutered. I would hate to think of her going to a bad home so how do I make sure she gets the right one.

Got a gobble stopper insert for one of the dog's bowls. Seems to work a treat and he's not frustrated by it. Could do with one for myself after the last few days of being snow bound lol!

There is a rehoming thread that may be a better place for your post and you may get better reply’s.

My tip would be to try to engage a local rescue to help you to safely rehome your cat. Cats advertised on selling sites are very vulnerable to falling into the wrong hands. Particularly those 'free to a good home'. I have seen a lot of footage of dogs being 'blooded' with cats and kittens for the purposes of hare coursing, dog fighting etc. (Here in Ireland)

A rescue might be able to help you find a suitable home and do a Home check for you.

Just because a person sounds/looks decent doesn't mean they are. I'd be very wary of handing over a kitten to a stranger.

This is my biggest fear. She's such a sweet little thing I'd hate to think something bad could happen to her. I'm not gonna rush it I'm gonna make sure she goes to a decent place.

My poor Peach is going through the mill with her eye at the moment. She’s been having trouble with it since January, she is prone to it being sore when it’s windy but after nearly 2 solid months of drops, it was only clearing for a couple of days at a time.
We were away for the past week and when we came home last night her eye was the worst I’ve ever seen it, completely clouded over and full of gunk. Brought her to the vets this morning and she wasn’t happy with it at all, so we have to go to the eye specialist in crescent vets on Friday. I’m hoping she doesn’t lose it at this stage :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,020 ✭✭✭✭tk123

Poor Peach! Bailey's chin has swollen up - exactly what happened a few years ago when he kept getting an abscess! He's on antibiotics and painkillers and is miserable :( Hopefully it goes down and we don't end up back in the vets

Edit it ruptured the moment I left him - blood everywhere

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,053 ✭✭✭Bells21

Oh no I hope peach and Bailey are both feeling better soon.

Well he's much happier today - the swelling has gone down. He's back for his last laser session tomorrow and they'll check the wound while he's there.
