Lyit?

Hi
I have a lot of LYIT courses on my CAO, but i just haven't a clue what to expect from Letterkenny and I'm getting a bit nervous. I live in Tipperary so travelling up and down isnt an option so whats the area like?
is there things to do shops/clubs/sports etc...
whats the college like facilities and atmosphere?
what accomodation to choose?
and most importantly what's the nightlife like?

Thank you

Plenty of shops, clubs and sports clubs around the town and in the college itself, pretty much anything you'd want really

Facilities are pretty good for a small college, the place is quite modern with plenty of computers and whatnot, there's a library, gym, sports hall, outdoor pitches etc. I've never been to another college to compare but never found the facilities lacking

For accommodation it depends on the kind of place you're looking for obviously, there's plenty of old threads here with opinions on different places. If you're young, don't know anyone and enjoy socialising then Ballyraine Halls is your best bet for meeting people. I don't have the time for it any more but night life was always pretty good, plenty of pubs and nightclubs in the town to keep you busy!

Ah man you'll be grand.

Letterkenny is a grand spot - plenty of pubs and nightclubs all v close together so you can choose a different one every night if you want. Lots of pubs have bands playing or you can head to the nightclubs for a DJ or a dance off with a stranger! In saying that there are plenty of people starting fights and messing outside of the clubs but i suppose your gonna get that in most student towns.

Lots of shopping all around the town....Tesco, pennies, dunnes, tk max, argos, lidl, aldi x2, heatons, easons, boots ....

It has all the usual amenities too like bowling, cinema, and a massive sports centre just outside the town. The college also has a great gym/sports hall on site. Loads of GAA, soccer and basketballs teams to train with or join so plenty to keep you busy. LK has a decent golf course too if you fancy it and they have good student membership offers.

I am not from the town, I live about 40mins away but credit where credit is due they have built it up to a decent town indeed. I'd say it would be a great place to go to college

Hey Everyone.

I have been searching for places to rent/share in Letterkenny for the past month now to get an idea of where n what would be best for a student such as myself.

There are some decent places here http://www.rent.ie/rooms-to-rent/don...m-type_either/

Im the same as many others who are going to be moving to Letterkenny and that are not knowing a soul. So i think it would be cool if myself and others in my position could discuss further what would be better.

Im unsure as to whether to rent a room in a shared house/apartment. Or whether to go apartment hunting with someone. If anyone else is interested or has any opinions then that would be great.

Thanks

Luke
