Warning about the new 1.23B2 firmware.
Watch out for problems if you use an external drive. The box unmounts it when it powers down, which is a much needed fix. BUT I see a problem now when the box restarts. I can hear the disk spinning up but failing to mount, spinning down and up again and is caught in this loop and never mounts. The upshot is I have to power down the drive and up again to get it to work. A real pain and serious bug.
The disk I use is an externally powered verbatim 500 GB disk, formatted for FAT32. Don't know if it relates only to this drive but I doubt it. I dropped back to the older firmware and the problem is definitely new. I've reported it to them.

hello bought an Ariva 150 combo yesterday and having trouble selecting favourites with the white button on the remote (bottom right of remote) when I go into channel list and click on channel I want to favourite pressing the white button on remote has no effect and does not highlight white button and tick it. Pretty sure I could with it just from shop, but last night downloaded V1.23B2.abs and couldnt add favourite then so I have now gone back to V1.22B5.abs and still cannot select add a channel to favourites, wonder if theres something im doing wrong?

Andy.

Hows this work? I have my dish pointing to astra satellite sky 28.2e but if I select Eurobird 1 sattelite in the menu and do a scan it finds channels without me moving the dish or LNB's ????

I would suggest arranging your favourites in the Ariva Editor and do it on your laptop/pc

IMO It is so much easier than doing it via remote

You dont need to move your dish. As you say, it is already pointing at astra 28.2 (it is not called Sky).

You are picking up stations on Eurobird 28.5 because it is so close to Astra 28.2

I would suggest you scan on Astra 2A at 28.2 only rather than Eurobird at 28.5

You can get it here:

http://www.ferguson-digital.eu/en/do...iva-150-Combo/

Its the one that says Editor

Then 'Dump' your stations from your STB to a USB and then upload them into the Editor. Save them back on USB and then back onto STB.

BTW you will only be able to name your favourite categories via the remote. But the hard work has been done, i.e. you have them populated

The only thing I think is missing from this box is Digital Text and the sky red button interactive service (Mheg5 is it?) unless its there and I just havent found it! - no a big deal for me, would have been nice if it was there (eurovision on tonight and could have pressed red button for the english words LOL) but as I say if its not there its not there, but it might be a big deal for others so thought I would mention it

Thanks Patch. I've never upgraded my firmware, based on Tony's advice to leave alone in the absence of problems - but these new features look worth the hassle, when they get the bugs out.

Remember though when you upgrade the f/w, the internet apps work usually work again.

Indeed, and along with the bug fixes I personally always update. I hope they'll get a quick fix for the external disk problem out shortly.

Shame they don't make some kind of browser interface rather than all of these internet apps that require constant fixing. They could concentrate their efforts on improving the box itself; still a lot of niggly little problems in it.

But, happy that they are still developing.

I always update too.

You know its not Ferguson's fault that teh apps stop working. Its the owners of the sites that they are from; they block them or something like that.
