The place is very big with many stalls, seen a guy walk out with a chainsaw in one hand and toilet roll in another.

Havent seen them apart from at Hallowen, And the market itself is only open on a Sunday.

As regards whats available, apart from the counterfeit stuff such as dvd's, t-shirts etc, there are some genuine guys selling tools, power tools (the guy on the right as you are walking down from the main gate is best), there are genuine CD's available inside the shed, some fishing gear (nice fella gives plenty of advice if asked ! ), washing powder work clothes and the normal cheap day to day clothing. Cant speak for the quality apart from the fishing gear, genuine CDs and tools which were good value and have lasted the test of time ! Got a great cordless screwdriver up there that is still going 6 years later, after plenty of use !

Jonesboro is far from as huge as it used to be, be prepared to be in and out fairly quickly rather than the hour or more it used to take just to walk round . The last few times I was up there there were only maybe 20 or 25 stalls.

Lads, can anyone tell me, how to get from Dundalk to Jonesborough, is there a bus? If not are Taxis there cheap?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,800 ✭✭✭The Guvnor

Late reply but the market was open today and no idea of time but it looks like 10-2 or thereabouts.

As for taxis on a sunday - could be nearer to €20 not sure however, no option for a bus afaik.

Best bet would be to see if you can find someone heading up and bag a lift off them.:)

As 280special said it is not heaving with stalls anymore and I would question whether it would warrant a taxi ride.

The checkpoints are hardly for catching people coming back from the Jonesborough market! [:D]

Open on a Sunday and open from about 10am til 2pm iirc.

Exit 20 off M1 motorway signposted:

    Jonesborough
    CarrickCarnan

Up the slip road - upto little junction - take a left turn and follow the road for about 400 metres and it is on the right hand side.

    It is impossible to miss.

I'm not sure if they sell mines and wheels alone but they have selection boxes full of them for sale and they stock up on blackcats so you can buy as much as you like

how could i get to the market from dundalk or newry?
    does the market except euros?

    thanks

    philip132 wrote: »

Yes it is. Not all the shops there is at least one on the right hand side as you drive towards the market.

There is also another one on the far side of the motorway - hard to miss as their sign is like a 6-8ft rocket with an even bigger sign saying fireworks!:D

There's a big enough shop on the old road to Belfast, that doesn't open on Sunday though. The market is the only thing that will be on in the town on Sunday. It's actually really big, loads of fellas selling viagra in the back of vans...
