Suspicious Argos Stock

So I'm looking for a blender and I come across this one in Argos:
    http://www.checkargos.com/StockCheckPage.php?productId=2767224.
As you can see it's not in stock anywhere, and it hasn't been in stock anywhere for at least a month (I've been looking for a while).

This would just be disappointing if were not for the fact that the exact same blender, with a few extra cups is in stock nearly everywhere:
    http://www.checkargos.com/StockCheckPage.php?productId=238%2F3426
Of course the few extra cups mean it costs twice as much .

Anyone else find this as suspicious as I do? An item on sale* but not in stock, the same thing with some extra cheap accessories on sale for twice the price?

(well, supposedly on sale, it says on the argos page it used to be on sale for €21.79, so who knows if it ever was on sale for "full" price)

A pretty typical marketing <SNIP> perpetrated mainly by catalogue companies like Argos.

They often have big headline price reductions but rarely have stock to meet even a small fraction of demand!

They offer less than half price on end of line stock when they might only have a handful in stock around the country but that same offer will be there online and in catalogue for several months!

Usually better deals can be found in proper shops.

its an offer from Christmas - now sold out.

Post #6 in that thread claimed it was out of stock everywhere less than a month after the offer was introduced.
Still, it does indicate that 5 months ago there was some stock. However it also indicates it sold out pretty fast, they have no indication of restocking and they are happy to have it as a deal on their website (and their catalogue) until 17/7/15. 8 months claiming a deal that was only in stock the first few weeks. Bit misleading imo.

Argos do this the whole time, thanks to really bad advertising laws here they get away with it.

The whole point of this is you will look elsewhere and think its really expensive.

Dont be fooled by Argos big deals

    Complaint
    Response
    Conclusion
The complainant said that he had tried to purchase the television on a number of occasions during the four month period it had been advertised on the advertisers’ website and had been unable to do so. When he queried the availability of the television in Ireland, he was informed by the advertisers that the product would be in stock shortly and to keep checking. He considered that it was misleading for advertisers to continue advertising goods which were not available to purchase.
    Complaint Upheld.

The Complaints Committee considered the detail of the complaint and the advertisers’ response. They noted that the lack of availability appeared to continue over a number of months and considered that the continual advertising of the offer without qualifications was in breach of Section 2.45 of the Code. In the circumstances they upheld the complaint.

    Action Required:
The Complaints Committee advised the advertisers that when issues arise with availability of products that they should make reference to the likely delay involved on their website.

There is a very "Special" offer going on at Argos at the moment with HP Ink cartridges, especially when ti comes to twin packs.

    HP 300 Combo Pack
They have on offer a combo pack with Colour and black for several types, take for example the 300 which has many reviews and has been sold by Argos for a while.

    http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/7021604/Trail/searchtext%3EHP+300.htm - 21.99.

However with that pack suddenly on offer, it is out of stock everywhere, but suddenly, an identical product is suddenly appearing on the Argos site, without any reviews, since it has just been uploaded at a higher price.

    http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/3566321/Trail/searchtext%3EHP+300.htm - 28.49.

    How about buying single cartridges?
But don't worry, I can go and buy a black Cartridge for 16.99 and the colour one is half price at 9.99 so thats cheaper than buying the more expensive combo pack. Oh hang on, the colour is out of stock as well almost everywhere.

I know items go out of stock all of the time, but the fact they've discounted an item a large amount, then gone and put the same item under a different catalogue number 30% higher, is misleading at best.
