Crusaders went down, unexpectedly, to Melbourne Rebels this morning (28-19). A word of warning - bad things come in threes and so far this weekend two of my teams (Munster and Crusaders) have lost which leaves just Leinster to go. :D

Probably the only 80 minute performance the Rebels have ever put in. Makes the fight for the top 6 more interesting too!

Hurricanes beat Highlanders away today, they've been great this season considering their horror shows off the field last season and subsequent mass exodus.

Very true - the young players they have introduced such as Andre Taylor and Beaudon Barrett have done very well.

Crusaders returned to form (at last) this morning against the Blues with the final scoreline of 59-12 flattering the latter. Crusaders ran in eight tries and it took until the 59th minute for the Blues to get on the scoresheet! Both of their tries were scored by substitute Lachie Munro. Both Dan Carter, back in the outhalf position, and Richie McCaw playing at #8 instead of the injured Kieran Read had outstanding games. :D

Crusaders were very good and the blues were very bad - meanwhile my adopted team the Hurricanes lost to the Brumbies 37-25 at home so they are out of contention for the playoffs.

Hold up... Eddie Sullivan linked with both the Force and Blues job? How has this not been discussed yet!

I was about to start a thread but my hangover got the better of me

Auckland Blues have lost again at home, beaten by Highlanders 27-20. It looks likely that John Kirwan will be their new coach next season.

If the Lions are to be "relegated" by the SARU to get the Kings in, Munster would do well to try poach Josh Strauss as a project player. Seriously good player, 25 years old, on the fringes of bok selection, but plays for a poor team and is overlooked. Also has an epic beard.

Crusaders return to form continued this morning with a 51-18 demolition of Highlanders. An intercept try by Hosea Gear was the only score that Highlanders could manage in the 2nd half. More significantly, from Ireland's point of view, all the Crusaders seem to come through the game unscathed. :D

The Chiefs have 3 tough games left. Their game against the Crusaders could decide who finishes top of the table.

Lions seriously blowing a lead here. 32-11 up at half time and now it's 35-28 10 minutes into the second half.

Stormers/Blues final whistle goes and the commentator says it was a historic defensive game for the Super XV.

Baffling, there were defensive errors left right and center. This is a league that needs Shaun Edwards or Kurt McQuilkin.

Kolisi was excellent, should be on Game of Thrones though with his name! :D

He was. He's a very good player. But that try he laid on was just shocking positioning from the center he best on the outside, incredibly bad. The pass he made inside though after that was top class.

    Springboks squad being announced.

We're back to super rugby, Lions-Stormers was a good game until that Stormers try. Very lucky the Lions didn't score at the other end though.

Crud, missed that. Did anyone see if Quinn Roux came out to play?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,340 ✭✭✭yimrsg

Roux came on about 70 minutes for Bekker. Didn't really do much in his cameo appearance, I think the highlight was taking a lineout. Another replacement came on the same time for the stormers as him, and managed to get a try so his contribution possibly overshadowed Roux in my mind.

Anyone else watching the Bulls Cheetahs? The music seemed to have been on an awful long time earlier........

  • Registered Users Posts: 30,308 Mod ✭✭✭✭.ak

Cheetahs really throwing the ball around, showing more handling skills than most SA sides here.

  • Registered Users Posts: 30,308 Mod ✭✭✭✭.ak

Consolation try for the cheetahs. I thought the bulls might pull a NZ on them. ;)

Another try, there could be a bonus point in this yet

Just a try bonus for the Cheetah's.

Meanwhile Huuricanes got revenge against the Crusaders (sans Carter) by beating them 23 22 away. Zach Guilford got a great individual try while Conrad Smith finished 2 great team tries. The highlights are worth watching!

Great game for the neutral. Robbie Freun (totally over rated) got a lesson from Conrad Smith. Some turnaround from last season for the Canes.

Not to mention Kieran Read and Israel Dagg - it was the Crusaders B team. They'll be back. :D

Whoever finishes top of the log will win the super 15. I hope it will be the stormers. Time will tell.

The Chiefs are at home to the Crusaders (who need to win after losing to the Canes on Saturday) and then away to the Cane's (who'll want to win as they might still get into the playoffs). They've the hardest run by far.

The Stormers are away to the Cheetahs and at home to the Rebels which should give them two wins.

The Brumbies are away to the Waratahs and then home to the Blues.

It looks good for the Stormers to top the table so.

    Stormers look in poll position.
If it is a bulls v stormers final. I can see the bulls turning them over, but i cannot see that happening.

Chiefs will probably only need 5 points though.

Just watched the Crusaders Hurricanes game and it's been a while since I saw a team with such a poor/beaten set piece.

    The ESPN stats are:

Scrums on own feed 3 won, 4 lost (42.9%)
Lineouts on own throw 7 won, 3 lost (70.0%)

They've scored the most amount of points in the league though.
