wedding guest dilemma

    Hi all,

Looking for a bit of advice and had to go anon so that I couldnt be traced. Myself and the other half live abroad and one of our friends is getting married back home next month. Between flights, accomodation, car hire and pet-sitting we are looking at the guts of nearly €1,500+ to attend the wedding. She is a good friend and I do want to celebrate the day with her, but I was wondering whether €100 in a card is very scabby to give as a present?

Tbh, the cost of attending is preventing us from going on a holiday ourselves this year so I really don't want to get to the stage where we get to the wedding and are on pints of water for the night! Plus I am recycling an outfit and doing my own hair etc to try to cut down on the cost.

Really hope I'm not coming across as scabby, just want to get opinions on whether the present of €100 would be enough.

And sorry mods for posting here, but I cannot post in the weddings forum as a guest/anon.

    Hi anon,

The Ladies Lounge isn't really suitable for such a thread so I've moved it to the Gift forum.

€100 is more than enough. Don't be worrying about it.

I wouldnt expect anything from somoeone who travelled. A small token gift would suffice!

€100 is way more than generous, I agree a small token would be plenty.

There's anon posting in here too in case you need it.

If I was the Bride and Groom I really would not expect you to give anything at all given the huge expense you are going to to come. A small token such as a photo frame with a picture of ye together would be more than generous.
