Caught 50/60 today. Many of these were a really good size. Fished all around Lambay island.

The guy that lives in the tower has begun stopping people the last few years, especially around the pool area.

To be fair to him, the state that the mackerel fishermen leave the place with rubbish, I'm not surprised nor do I blame him.

There is a decent spot on the approach to the area though. As you walk the cliff, tower in front, sea to the right, walk as far as the first wooden stake. Turn right and make your way down. Its fairly easy going. Good deep water there and mainly snag free. 4/5 would fit fish it comfortably.

Plenty around outside Carlingford Lough on Sunday. We had around 40 but had to give a hand to a boat that had lost its engines so that was the end of that!

Lots of mack's last two nights in Salthill. Tides were very good with high tide this evening at 8.15 so was just dark at that stage. Good sized ones too and prom wasn't as manic as it normally is in Sept time so kids were able to enjoy it.

Caught another 50/60 around Lambay this morning. Seems to be plenty around after the good weather.

I'd imagine they are very big now alright but thought they'd be gone long ago.
