So what conventions are on this year, anything new happening or exciting artists coming to our fair land?

The usual overpriced and frankly crap Midleton tattoo festival is most likely going ahead.

I'd sooner head to ones abroad than the ones here.

Poster and dates for the Galway convention are up 13th & 14th of September. Was alright last year and I got a cool piece so I'd imagine I'll be back this year. Definitely had the best line up last year. Organiser puts on Liverpool or Brighton or one of those big ones in the UK so had the contacts to get a few of those big names in. I see Matt Webb is back in the uk and I've been meaning to get something from him for a while so hopefully he's about.

Dates for Kerry are up as well.

If the dates suit there's something pretty cool up North.

Don't think many artists have been announced for anything yet though.

Assuming I'm still in Galway I'll probably go to the one in September.

Waterford city has one as well now, apparently.

If I go to any it will be ones abroad. Maybe Frankfurt or London. Nothing here, poorly organised, not great value for money and tiny in comparison to the ones abroad.

I was at it last year, thought it was pretty good.

I'd never been to one before though so I had nothing to compare it to.

Dublin Tattoo Convention is October 17th - 19th according to Facebook.

The last one was literally a five minute walk from my house and I didn't go. I don't understand the appeal of conventions.

Get work from visiting artists, watch artists you are thinking about in person, have a chat with them in a more relaxed setting than a shop, meet fellow like minded people, session

Over priced for the artists work or for the public to gain access?

It's overpriced for the public to go to it.

I'm going to a gig in London on Sept 27th, same weekend the London convention is on.

Looks fairly huge, anyone been before? Worth it?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,132 ✭✭✭Just Like Heaven

Gonna try and go next year. I'd say the tattoos are pricey enough but it's so big you could probably walk around for half a day, not get anything done and still enjoy it.

I wanted to go this year in particular cause Samuele Briganti is taking walks up only all weekend.

If I was in London same time as the convention I'd make sure I paid a visit.

It is one of the biggest and always has an amazing artist line up.
