I'd be into it alright - however living in London so would not be meeting up. If you get a cyber group going then count me in.

I don't know if I can make it to mayo frequently, but I'll be there, just at the sign by the barn next to the shamans hut.

I'd be well up for it.... send me a PM on it if you get anything going :)

LoLth: email address removed to stop evil spamming gits from taking it and selling it to the taliban who will then use it to send inflamatory mails around the world stirring the rise of a neo-nazi gestapo-esque underground secret police movement who eventually find roots in ireland and break into my house to kidnap my cat. Dammit plenderj! what has my cat ever done to you!!!!

    [edit]
    erm... ah yes... right lol
that'd be jamie at plenderj dot com

What way should we approach it? Book clubs have been atempted before on boards, but always fail. I would be quite happy meeting up with some like minded people who dont get bored to death when i talk about books, as most of my friends seem to do.

Meet up in a pub with a few people not afraid of books, decide on a genre, decide on a title, and meet the next week?

If anything happens pm me too.

    Hi folks,

am getting excited about this now - have had a few replies.

so what do you think about meeting up the week after next.

    what days suit people? times?

and any suggestions re location? someone suggested Starbucks but that wouldn't be my cup of tea!

as for rambling on about books, that's does sound good.

Perhaps some pub in town when it's not busy or something? I give training every Monday evening and take Polish lessons on Wednesday... any other evening suits me

I've found having my book club in a wine bar to be very successful. They are usually quiet enough to talk, some have beer, obviously wine, have little tapas and little nibbles to eat if someone is hungry and usually do coffee's and teas too if people don't want to drink. Would suggest one in Dublin but haven't been there in years but it's worth considering.

    Hi folks,

Meeting next week on Tuesday, July 25th at 7pm at the Irish Film Centre. It is quiet enough here to have a chat - people can get nibbles if they want, alcohol or coffee...I think it probably best if we meet outside as nobody will know everybody else.

Please let me know who can make it or if you can't make it and are still interested so I know to fill you in afterwards:) ...

I'd love to come along. What should we bring... what'll people be wearing... who's who etc. etc. :)

No need to bring anything...however, some thoughts on how you would like the club to be run, and a couple of suggestions for books might be helpful.

Good luck with it. I'm sorry to be missing it.

We have been meeting every three weeks. The book for the next meeting (which we only decided upon today) is The Master And Margarita, Mikhail Bulgakov. If anybody wants to come along next time, i will wait outside at around 7, book in hand :)

In Hodges Figgis at the shelves as you walk down the stairs to the basement/bargain area you will see 'The Master And Margarita' for 3.99. It is also scattered around in a few piles in the area.

    :)
