I didn't mean they should get off for selling drugs, I'm just curious why her family is across the front of the paper saying, we'll never forgive them. She was a drug addict, I thought they were friends of hers, I didn't realise she bought it off them.

I probably wouldn't forgive him either if I was a family member.

Good point by that last texter to VB.

The church should bear some of the compensation costs too. Most of it in fact.

I have no problem as a taxpayer contributing to the compensation of the Magdalene women.

But I'm not ok with the thought of the church shying away.

We do not need them, we have Enda's false tears.

    Oscar winning performance.
I bet he's been practicing for the last two weeks.

Oddly enough, I believe him (I usually don't). In fairness, it would take a heart of stone not to be affected by the stories of those women.
Reminds of of his outrage against the Vatican last year...Even Kenny has a heart, (I think)

Maybe so but he could have made a heartfelt speech two weeks ago and announced the claims procedures yesterday. The 2 week gap took a lot of the gloss off his speech.

I disagree, two weeks ago it would have seemed like a knee jerk platitude this week it came across IMO as thought out, sincere & heart felt & I commend Enda on this occasion.

Again, maybe so. I might be a bit harsh with him as he's a politician. I have a deep mistrust of any of them.

It's to give the impression that he actually ever done a day's work... He's from the Joe Duffy, Jack O'Connor school of socialism... preaches socialism for the masses, and gets paid CEO wages to lobby for it.

Have you ever tried to listen to what he has to say rather than begrudge his salary?

Whatever happened to the idea that parents provide for their children?

Was he the guy who advised we default on the national debt and then interview all the rich people in Ireland and ask them for some money to make up the immediate deficit?

He is making a lot of sense tonight though.
Don't like him but agree with what he's saying.

How is the state expected to go on paying its employees more than it takes in in taxes. Reality has to recognised.

Rich-Boy Barrett defends the worker again...

I feel so much better now

I turned over for a second after the Charlie Bird thing about Padraig Nally finished... cant stomach the guys' cynical politicking.. "We have slashed through the public sector" - Not ONE mandatory redundancy, and everybody who did leave got a chunk of gold and a big pension....

Natural wastage is doing that. Not replacing retirees.

How are people on less than 30 k supposed to take more cuts and still pay bills?

Ah now. Some of them got very little and poor pensions. Don't exaggerate.
