Hi I was wondering does anyone know of any tapestry/needlepoint shops in Dublin city center, I have tried google but am having no luck and will be in the city tomorrow.

WM Trimmings on Capel Street have claimed to have them in the past but I have never found them there. Inspiring Ideas in Blanch is the best I've seen in Dublin.

If you're in Cork at any stage, the Craft Shop in Paul Street Centre is the best I've seen.

Hi, hoping this is the right place to ask!

I'm hoping to embark on a small home crafting business but will need a supply of shadow box frames and just can't seem to find any that don't cost an arm and a leg! Up until now when I have done anything for family/friends I've used the box frames from Ikea but they're just that little bit too small and I was hoping to find something slightly bigger and available in bulk for around the same price (€4.50) if I'm going to make this a more professional thing.

If anyone could help point me in the right direction I'd be very grateful.

hi Abrean, have a look through these... at a glance 7th and 14th from the top might be what your after. Their minimum order number is also low.

Anyone in the south-east will know about them, but if you are in Waterford / Tramore on holiday Cahills, Main Street, Tramore have a great selection of craft and art stuff at very good prices.

Has anyone got a recommendation for where I could purchase stretched canvas 16 x 20 " student grade at a discount.
I've tried several shops @ Galway & online but am not really getting anything cheaper than 4.99 per canvas.
Initially I'm looking for 40 pieces and it will be a reoccurring order after that.
    Appreciate any help.

Lidl are doing canvases this week but probably not the right size for you.

For any knitters out there who like more luxurious blends, Alex at coolree.com has such lovely yarns. I saw him on Nationwide and bought some of the alpaca silk cashmere and its beautiful. Supporting local is always good too :)

If you mean something for fancy dress, then joke shops should do water based face paints as well as clotting blood make-up and scars.

Great I.ll be in Waterford during the week, I.l have a look at some of them. She is looking for the serious stuff. I saw a set on the net Ben Nye professional kit, USD135, but it seems to be only available in the US. This is her big c.mas present, so I dont mind spending a bit on it.

    Hello !
I'm looking for A4 or A3 led tracing boards for Christmas. There are some on Ebay, but the shipping is expensive enough, and if I buy from Hong Kong and such, I'll end up paying customs, on an item that's already pricey enough.

I've been trying to find suppliers in Ireland, but other than a Tattoo shop (whose board works with a light tube, not too keen on that) and 2 light specialists (who seem to do mostly industrial supplies), I can't seem to source any here.

Argos have a light box type thing, but the reviews are not great, and led just seems more suitable for what I want.

If any of yees have found any in Ireland, thanks for letting me know.

Hi hope someone else can help.
I'm doing box frames for kids with names and dates of births. But am finding it hard to get wooden numbers and letters. I only want small ones about 1inch tall 3 to 6 mm thick. Can't seem to find them. Anyone have any ideas pls? Or even something similar that would look good in frame.

    Thank you

maybe using an airbrush gun could be an alternative. bodybuilders and makeup artists and even cake decorators use them. consider spraying on some water based/skin friendly body paints instead of using makeup.

    just saw one on http://www.artshopireland.com

Hey everyone I have a Thors hammer necklace and the cord it was in went kaput I'm looking for a leather cord to use it again or maybe a manly metal chain for it any ideas where I'd find something like that handy ? I'm in the laois area

Wondering if anyone would know where to get offcuts of insulation foam board in Dublin maybe? A building supplier near me has the 25mm type I want but only in 4 x 8 ft board which is about 4 times what I need and would be a waste...

Just asking because I know this sort of stuff gets thrown out all the time but living in Dublin I have no idea where to look! I've been to Evan's as well but the only option form there would be buy lots of expensive foamcore and stick em together, not ideal.

    Cheers!

Hey guys, can anyone recommend a Dublin based shop to get 300+gsm card stock. Something a bit nicer than the usual stuff you get in A$ Art/Evans?

    Thanks

  • Registered Users Posts: 33 GirlOutWest

I didn't see this thread until now so apologies for repeating myself.

I have just got into jewellery making and http://www.Beads100.com is great value altogether, for beads and findings. Not a vast supply but can't be beaten on price and delivery speeds. Irish too :)

I usually buy the heavier card (250gsm/300gsm) by the ream in office supply shops, or school supply shops. I recently noticed Eason's have nice hammered card and also linen card 25 in a pack.

You do realise that Thor's hammers were worn almost (or even entirely) exclusively (judging by grave finds) by women? :D

Try a cobbler's or a craft (beads etc) shop for thong/cord.
