Yes, f*ck the secular organisation who actually started the whole thing. I think that they're two different holidays anyway; the 'Irish' holiday and the Christian/ Catholic holiday.

(I actually agree with you, lol.)

I won't be celebrating it because I have to stay sober until the 20th (starting tomorrow).

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,589 ✭✭✭Hail 2 Da Chimp

    Boo for staying sober!

    The parade is on Monday.

Ergo, it's on Monday. It is of course a weekend-long festival, so no reason not to start early on it.

The 17th is always St. Patrick's Day. This year the church are having the masses for it on the 15th because St. Patrick's Day falls in the middle of Holy Week which has specific rites for each day.
So you don't need to worry about it unless you're organising your church diary for that week :)

Well, my best friend's birthday is on the 16th so..............the entire weekend will be an adventure, Paddy's celebration is just an incentive for us to go off somewhere for the weekend.

This poll is badly in need of a "15th-17th" option.
I chose 17th, cos thats when i'll be celebrating "paddy's day" but i'll be partying all long weekend in London.

    17th !

WTF has this got to do with the catholic church anymore.

its national session day ! :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,727 ✭✭✭✭Sherifu

It'll be the 17th for me as I won't be in the country until the 16th. Party!

Irelands national holiday is the 17th, end of. Always has been, always will be. Doesnt matter what day it is. Is it a few people dying to get back to the office on Monday that came up with the Saturday idea??
