Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Hi just looking for some help with setting up a website, not sure what to use as a package, I like the look of this one, http://www.register365.com/sitemaker.html?PR=EG1.
    Has anyone used this or any recommendations? I have my email address & domain already sorted, looking for something managable, looks good to the customer,user friendly & cost efficent

    I use Google Sites, which gives me free hosting as well. Joomla and Wordpress are good but I prefer a simple manageable site builder.

    If you're building a site for commercial purposes then I'd recommend going with a CMS like WordPress or Drupal - they're more future proof than using a site builder tool from one of the hosting companies.

    yes, if you use a hosting companies site builder it may do you for now, but when you want to add blogs, social media, ecommerce etc and then get a really nice design you are very restricted.

    Get a list of what you think you need for the next 3 years on your site if money was no object, then search for a cms that fulfills these criteria.

    Install it on you hosting.

    Personally I see hosting site builders as a quick fix and for some they are absolutely adequate, for those sites that are 5 pages and a contact form and dont care about google ranking.

    sirrah, what kind of a site are you looking to launch i.e. what functionality if any do you want on it?

    Site builder is not the best option out there. I would recommend WordPress as well.

    For a personal site would you use WordPress too? Is this the .com or .org domain?

    what I don't understand with WordPress is that you need to find a webhost before you use the program...???

    For a website to be online you need the following
    1. Hosting
    2. Domain Name ( .com.org or whatever extension you wish )
    3. Access to the website hosting via FTP.

    Thats a minimum.
