Measurements for jeans

Bit confused here, I've measured myself using tape and seem to be around a 34" waist, yet my 32" jeans require a belt. In fact I can't even find a 32" measurement anywhere between my hips and waist.

Anyone know what's going on here? Is my measuring tape lying to me?

Measure your jeans to see if in fact they are 32". Measure from the middle of the buttonhole around to the button.

Wow, that is possibly the stupidest concept I have ever heard of! For starters what guy is really going to care if his jeans are 32" or 34"? I'm sure it's much more important that they actually fit!

Obviously not such an issue when trying clothes on but with online ordering getting so big they surely have to ditch this nonsense.

    Turns out they're around 35"!

    Cheers.
