Yeah, he's had that for 20 odd years. I've never seen another watch on him....

Maybe this is the watch that he wears in front of the plebs and keeps the patek for his dinners away from the cameras.....

Apparently Diana gave it to him

    The internet isn’t for everyone

I'm not the most sentimental person in the world and I have very little affinity with the British royal family. But that was the first thought that crossed my mind when someone said he has had that watch for 20 years and he's always wearing it. Surely it would be too much to ask for anyone having any link to this story?

You're correct, William got it, not Harry, maybe they got one each?

And a kids size / womens size 38 mm at that!

Doesn't detract from the lovely story at all though. I've more respect for many of the British royals with each passing day. They might be very rich (silver spoon), but they sure do not have an easy life. And most of them try do the best they can. And serve their people.

    Nice, was it expensive?

No, about 200 euros landed here. It has sapphire crystal, ceramic bezel and a miyota 9015 movement. The lume is excellent, as good as my Seiko monster.

Don't post too often, but very pleased with my new strap from Time Factors on my Aerospace. Original titanium bracelet was picking up some fine swirls..

I bloody love the Aerospace and love that Breitling are still behind the Ana-digital as a going and useful concern. Looks nice on that strap E.

Would there be any benefit of having a seperate thread to post photos of collections to discuss rather than individual watches?

He must have a huge collection that needs it's own thread.

Bloody show off, don't need his kind around here :D:D

If you saw what was in my collection you wouldn't say that.

Although I have to say it's a shame I can't show off all my Casios at once.

Collection eh... I'll kick this sidebar off if ye like.

    448501.jpg

Some(:o it's a sickness...) of my mechanical watches, in broadly chronological order from 1912 to 1967. All but two military types.

This thread is called "Post pictures of your watches" which covers one or more to my understanding.

1914 Hampden(found the correct hands for it*), 1912 Longines(earliest man's example I've seen. Found the correct hands and crown), 1916 Longines, 1916 Half Hunter case with Longines movement sold by Mappins of London, 1934 Zenith Special, 1941 Alpina Kriegsmarine, 1952 Longines "tank" in 14Kt, 1967 Heuer Bund(non issued very early 3 digit serial no).

    * Correct hands and relumed.

All older than me, impressive collection.

Not quite a watch but the last hard to get piece for my next build.

    SARB059 crown, means I can make a NH36 powered PADI SKX009.

    Total sleeper.

This way my motivation for asking for a seperate thread. Every watch has a story and each one might generate seperate questions. But if it works in this thread.

@wibbs...like the middle one with the nato strap and the last one on the right.

    What make/models are they ?

1934 Zenith Special(centre second version) and a 1967 Heuer Bund. The former was an example of a much used 1930's design of a Pilot's watch, bought privately and by some air forces at the time, the latter was a design by a company called Leonidas that supplied a couple of air forces and then bought out by Heuer. Most notably sold to the German military from the late 60's onwards. My one is unusual as it's a civilian example, not directly available through the trade at the time(and illegal to sell in Germany). They were mostly sold off to the public through SINN in the early 90's by the Germans, but a few remain in specialised service today. Rarity wise the Zenith is the harder to come by, the Heuer the more easy, but sourcing an actual original unmolested example is anything but easy. Both are "big" watches even for today's fashions(42mm for the Zenith, 44mm for the Heuer IIRC). The Zenith would have been enormous compared to everyday 1930's watches.
